Last friday I signed a Silver SS with moon roof and spare, all the paperwork was done I have the sales document, vin Nr. etc... , dealer told me the car is at another dealer in Tulsa and he agreed to send it our way. I was supposed to get it today or tomorrow.

Now apparently the dealer in Tulsa has changed his mind and my dealer cannot find another silver, long story short, I have no clue if I'm gonna get the car, or any car for that matter as apparently they cannot find any other silver around they can get.

The only other option they can find is black, and I'm not a big fan of black cars.

First world problem I know, but frustrating to say the least.

I am surprised that the dealer is allowed to change their mind after your dealer has taken it to the signed contract stage. I no nothing about consumer law over in the US (I am Australian) but I would be making a few phone calls to lawyers if you think it is worth it. Have you seen the Mystic Green colour -that is what I would be going for - it has really grown on me.

Something similar happened while I was looking for mine. Long story short, as soon as the other dealer backed off from the deal, the first dealer offered to order one or give the deposit back. I chose the latter and we parted ways.

Go to cars.com put in your zip code, silver, sort by distance, and see what's available. Dealerships don't have to trade or sell to each other, but I'm sure would sell to you direct. As an alternative, there are dealers that sell over the internet and will ship the car anywhere in the country.

Our sales manager told me that we won't see 2015's until next year(January). Most likely, he is wrong...let's hope he is.

island1064,

I searched using the web and the Chevrolet inventory search by zip codes. Took quite a while by that method and ended up searching Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Found probably a half dozen silver cars but only two with both the roof and spare. One I bought was in Maryland north of Baltimore - 150 miles away. Fortunate part was that this dealer offered more money for my trades than any of the others. Bought that car sight unseen and dealer bought my trades sight unseen on February 22.

Keep looking, it is likely out there. Certainly worth the effort. Has a Roto Fab now.

There are 18 available in metro phoenix area. Sands Chevrolet in Surprise Az has 3 listed on the web site at $2,300 discount + $500 dock fee. I got mine in Dec. from them and was happy with the deal. I got the 3rd or 4th one here.

Likely scenario is after dealer agreed to dealer trade it he had an up come in on it and its sold. That is how it usually pans out and why I have only done a dealer trade once for myself and that was on an in transit dealer stock unit I waited for and picked up the day it came in via the scenario described below.

For future reference for 'ya all here is how to avoid this. Dealer trade done via phone or email but part of the deal is you drive your dealers swap to the dealer with your car and bring yours back right now (like I'm on my way to get it now). Saves your dealer from having to pay a driver the quarter to fetch it and you know how it was driven and it doesn't get sold out from under you.

I gave them until Monday to get their act straight after that the deal is off.
Hope things work out with your dealer. Great advice to not settle for anything you don't want. If you haven't already, might go to 2014 SS Sports Sedan: High-Performance Sedan | Chevrolet. Click on the "Search Inventory" tab (upper right) & plug in some Arkansas or nearby state zip codes. Maybe there's a couple other SIM cars that aren't too far away. A courtesy delivery is something to consider too. Good luck & let us know how it goes.

The silver one at Hendrick in Cary, NC might still be there, but Keep in mind the dent in the roof that was fixed.

I never heard of Chevrolet dealers treating their customers like this. Does this happen often?
