Been trolling these forums for the past couple months and finally got around to posting an introduction!

After seeing all the pics and reading the stuff here, my mind is made up on getting a nice new SS. Not that it wasn't before, mind you...

Finally saw one in person over the weekend and digging it. Asked my local dealer how long the lead time is on ordering one and plan to act accordingly. Can't get into one until June, so if the lead time is 6 months, I might as well pull the trigger now.

Can't wait to actually drive one!

You may want to check the Chevy web site to find other dealers in your general area. It will show you the dealers that either have them or have them on the way. Maybe you'll find one you can test drive.

Well, put a deposit down on one yesterday that is due into dealer stock in Feb/Mar. I went into the dealer to order one, since I'm about 5 or 6 months away from being able to take delivery, and with the 2014 cutoff looming, I figured what the ****. I was surprised what they told me, and really not sure how true it is. Here goes:

They would happily accept my order, but could not guarantee that I would receive one because they are only allocated a certain number because of the limited production tag the SS has. Any truth to that? Sounds plausible, but I would think if a paying customer walks in and orders a car, they should be able to get it...

Long story short, they have a black, roof, spare coming in and is now mine. It was what I wanted to order anyway, just needed a couple more months to pay off another bill. Guess I'll have to work harder!

Should be fun.

Yes they have a short allocation maybe more later but my dealer received 5 could only order 2 in June mine being the very first car ordered. The 5th one was built the last of Nov. I think. So if GM doesn't give out more allocation or gives it to dealers who never received any the first go round they maybe winding down, need to check my sources.

Yes not every dealership had an allocation and the ones that did only got a few. If you have an SS in your driveway or one on the way consider yourself lucky.

She informed me that they were able to find my order number! Since I really didn't order one, and was going to take one of of the local dealers allocated, getting this number was a great first step....now, to stalk the "ship tracking" thread a bit more!
