I love the new SS and was so close to getting one. Kept on flipping back and forth as to the new SS or a Pre owned V Series Cadillac CTS. Today I pulled the trigger and picked up a 2012 CTS-V Sedan with 5500 miles on it. Black with black Recaros. Car is loaded with all options and had an original list of 72,640. One owner car that was a bit aggressive since it does need rear tires soon.
I live in NJ and found the car at an Infiniti dealer in Long Island. I had a blast driving this car home. Closest thing you can get to a 4 door race car with luxury touches. Planning on keeping it for two years as I rack on mileage pretty fast. Maybe an SS then. I still have my 08 Impala SS with over 160k miles on it and will continue to use it.I'm not leaving these boards and will pop in from time to time. I'm excited to see the comments when you all start getting your cars.
V must stand for Vroooom!! :) car really hauls ass!!

New it was 72k...I bought it for a few grand more than a new SS. Just about the same money , free service for the remainder of 4/48K miles and bumper to bumper 4/48. Plus my dealer gives me a new Cadillac to use if warranty work or service is being done to the car. The Chevrolet dealership that I use is excellent but not on par with the Cadillac. Still want to test drive the new SS when it becomes available!

The car is insanely fast. Popped off the traction control this morning and it looked like the rear tires were on fire!! Made a note to myself to leave the traction control on. I'm getting new rear tires so I had some fun with these. At 100 the car is yawning. I really wanted the new SS but the V is really an amazing piece of engineering.

If you wouldn't mind sharing how much did you pay BEFORE TT&L? Basically your agreed upon price. Was this a straight up buy or was a trade involved?

I'm thinking along the same lines (a little) for next year and am trying to gather some pricing info. Thanks. :)

50k for a loaded 2012 with low mileage. I'm bringing it to the Cadillac dealership that I've dealt with for years this Monday for my FREE synthetic oil change. Part of the free service that comes with the car. Straight up buy with no trade. I had 3.28% financing for 60 mos and the Infiniti dealer got me 2.9% for 60 mos. Many people are trying to sell these Vs for 53-56k for a 2012 with higher mileage. Make sure you find one with the Recaro seats...not easy to find and the standard seats are...standard seats. There are some out there in my range and prices are dropping fast since the new CTS just came out. The V Sport is available now with a twin turbo V6. The new V isnt coming out I'll next year so you can still get a 2014 V with the 556hp motor in the style I have.
I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble on a new SS. The decision I made was based on a number of things that I felt was right by my needs. So far I couldn't be happier but I'm sure when I see the new SS I may still second guess myself on my decision. Of course if that new SS is at a stoplight next to me I'll give it a run......and the SS WILL see my vertical Caddy tail lights!! :)
Orbit Orange if you have any questions for me just fire away either here or PM.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I would lean more towards the coupe though I think, next year for a used one. Probably have to pay a little more than the sedan. It may be out of my price range as well. But thank you for the reply. :)

Congrats Mrant 212

I kept tossing around the same idea of getting a SS or a pre-owned V. Well I made my decision cause I just couldn't pass up an excellent deal!

Here's mine: 2011 dealer demo fully loaded with 2800 miles. Already had to put a M3 in its place a few days ago. lol

Nice pick man. I've been looking at V wagons myself. They've dipped into the mid 40s around here. Plan on trying to look at one at a local caddy dealer here, recaros, stick, thunder gray, with 33k miles. Hope the wife will sign off on it. :)

I test drove a certified 2012 diamond black series V wagon with Recaros with a A6 tranny. It had 28K but the $50k price tag killed the deal for me. Deals are to be had on V2's but you have to act quick cause they go fast when it's a good deal. Goodluck with your V search!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Looking at a 2010 (red) & 2011 (silver) right now. I really want a new SS but the price for the V is better.

Its really going to down to payments and the back seat leg room. I have a 6 month old daughter, so I'll have car seat in which ever option I go with. I've read the SS has about 4 more inches in room. Either way its going to be a win-win. Just need to make a decision.

I know the V will be tighter on the interior than my G8, but for the money, hands down a used V over an SS. Sorry Chevy. :)

Mrant202 - Does the 2012 CTS-V Recaro seats have power side bolsters? I've checked on the new 2014 CTS, but no power seat bolsters in them, period.

Glad you are having fun in the CTS-V (real V-8, not V6 turbo'd). Regards, Dan
