The audio has gone out twice now in our SS. Took it to the stealership on Saturday after leaving Cars & Coffee and told them to get it looked at right then so that it wouldn't become one of those "Sorry, but we weren't able to replicate the issue" and they ended up pulling the fuse and reprogramming the system. It did fix the issue, but my advisor told me to keep a look out for a letter in the mail about an update that would require a dealership visit in the next couple of months.

What happened the second time was XM was on, made a bluetooth call and had no audio. Figured the phone was messed up, but then changed to pandora and no sound either. We then pushed the onstar button and tried XM again to nothing. Just a heads up for everyone that may experience the issue.

I have induce 2 crashed of the mylink system. Both happened in a Starbucks driveup window. I pulled my iPhones USB cable out of the iPhone to pay with my electronic Starbucks card and since I was using pandora it crashed the system. The screen was locked with no sound or controls. I had to turn the car off open the door and restart the car to get the controls to work again.

The 2013 Acadia we have does this also at times. It is a computer, I just wonder if they will do a software update for it if there are enough complaints.

I would think there will be more than a few issues pertaining to no sound...And I am sure there are other owners that haven't experienced issues yet, at least not that we are aware of...There are a lot more owners out there who are not on our forum...

I agree but what it has always seemed to be is a fail to boot or lockup of the system.

All...Like you thought it was just me and my Iphone...I'm on the phone and pulled into the driveway with car running then when call finished hung up...The Mylink system didn''t reset - no radio, sound, nothing...Thought this was odd so turned off the car and restarted...Still nothing...Like many of you I said WTF...It took me re-starting again to reset MyLink System...(I didn't take to Dealer as thought it was just a fluke thing as it hasn't happend since then.)...GM Customer Service should pass all of our concerns to the higher ups for an update or fix...

Also...Onstar phone system seems to auto dial and/or receive "503" area code numbers often...Any issues with this for those that accepted the On-Star phone package? I'm thinking Big Brother keeping track of us through satellite! LOL..

According to my service rep., there will be some OTA updates regularly, but when things like this happen, they will send out a letter to customers letting them know that the car needs to be brought in for a flashed update.

I've also had OnStar do some weird stuff in my 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD by dialing off the wall numbers and such.

Similar thing happened in a press car on a test drive around Australia. Only they couldn't turn sound down or change Stations etc.
Anything pertaining computers are always going to have issues it is a matter that need to be bought to the attention of Customer care or via dealers etc. I'd say the most likely issue is in the programming code.

Thanks for all the feed back on this issue...I guess we just need to wait for the GM letter telling us to take in for a "flash" update...

Hey y'all,

I am going to report your concerns. I have not heard of an update, maybe the dealership is ahead of me.

I will keep y'all posted. If you do go to the dealership and get a diagnosis please let me know. Or if you want me to set you up a case and call your dealership, let me know that too! :)

.....GM Customer Service should pass all of our concerns to the higher ups for an update or fix...
The "higher ups" are concerned primarily from a cost/risk perspective. Ideally you need your "verbatim" to hit launch or current product engineers responsible for managing warranty cost/issues. Verbatim described as your isolated incident and talk track to the dealer when engaging service.

PM'ing GM customer service here is great but it is also prudent to ping them on Twitter and directly through GM's Customer Care and "contact us" avenues.

Like most automakers GM has sophisticated intelligence gathering systems that can scan your incoming emails, Twitter feeds, blogs, etc. for early warning of issues. The more information they have the better we all are in terms of quick resolution to "glitches" with our prized Holden vehicles.

Hi Kelly, have a 2015 SS with the same no audio problem. No audio from whether it's radio Bluetooth navigation, even the turn signals have no clicking audio. Took the dealer seven times going in for an eight time tomorrow. I always get the same answer technician cannot reproduce. As a result service refuses to replace the radio unfortunately. Here's a YouTube link

... to copy the same answer and post it in the THREE threads you did:

It is a "normal" OCCASIONAL glitch. Slow down on pressing the buttons. Give the MyLink time to think; it is slow.

To clear it:

Turn off car. Get out. Walk out of FOB range. Wait a few minutes. Get in. Restart. Sound back.

Go to the dealer and have them update the radio software with the latest IP version FROM THE USB STICK; NOT reprogramming the radio.

I had this issue with my '14 a few times; after the last IP update I did (IP31 ... I think from memory) it didn't do it anymore.

BTW there is no need to spam posts multiple times ... the sky is not falling!!!

To add another data point;

I have had that happen a few times in my 2015, same issue - no sound including turn signals. Have the latest software update AFAIK. It has occurred with and without my iphone attached, and usually happens mid-drive (working sound, then no sound). A couple times it has happened immediately after pressing the voice command button. In all cases, an ignition off and on cycle has cleared the problem. However, this is not always so easy to do, particularly if you are driving with a group in the car (embarrassing), on the freeway (dangerous), etc. This is a genuine problem that GM should rectify, however it is something that is impossible to replicate since it happens so infrequently.

There is a FMVSS requirement for turn signal flashers, but the audible part seems to be optional:

S9.2 Turn signal flasher.

S9.2.1 The means of producing the turn signal pilot indicator signal may be incorporated in the flasher. A means of producing an audible signal may be incorporated in the flasher.

That said, persons that experience this and have not received a satisfactory reply from the dealer can post a complaint on the NHTSA website for safety issues; I doubt NHTSA would take any action but it might get the attention of GM.

This is the web page for safety-related complaints:

Hey ... random glitches happen.

After 2 years my '15 SRX had the sound go out. Restart cured it. Been 6+ months and no reoccurrence(s).

Did I run to the dealer when my '14 or the SRX did it ??? NO.

My '17 locked up the MyLink once. But it was because I wasn't giving it enough time to complete changing radio stations before changing again. Restart cured it. Never reoccured.

This just happened to me on my 2017. No turn signal, radio, etc. I figured once I turned it off it would reset and it did.
