Hello, this is John checking-in from Central Ohio. I bought a new silver SS on November 9th and am waiting for my car to arrive. It’s scheduled to get here within the next week or two. This is the first time I bought a car without driving it or even seeing it in-person but I did find a local Chevy dealer who had a used 2009 G8 GXP that I drove and liked a lot. I figured the new SS would be more of the same if not better. I’ve gotten some very interesting and helpful information from the Forum so far and am looking forward to participating in the future.

Welcome to the forum OttoSS! You came to the right place.
I bought my '94 Impala SS without ever seeing or driving one also. I ordered it and mine was the very first one my local dealership received. No regrets and I'm SURE you won't have any either!

Welcome, I am pretty sure you will enjoy the SS if you even only mildy like the G8 GXP. I just posted an article that states they have sold 60 in the first couple of weeks with customer stocks of only 100. Not sure why only 100 I assume alot of dealers will maintain one as the big boss mobile :D or Demonstrator

One thing I would love to see being done is a comparison of the SS and G8, just to show the difference to the masses.
Here is a small piece from Wheels magazine:

"Jumping straight out of my VE to fly to the launch drive of the VF I was well placed to compare the two, and the result was startling. The VF SS-V isn't a little bit better, it's a giant leap forward in some areas, particularly steering feel & interior refinement. Sadly the VE feels like an old & outdated car, instantly. The VF is that good."

That alone speaks volumes about the SS/VF. Good to see a quote like that. Hopefully it will have people who find a G8 a "better" buy looking into the SS. I know there have been one already on here :D

Free Oil Changes

Hello all,

When I picked up the car, I was told that the first (4 or 5) oil changes are free. I assume everyone else gets the same, so z51 why are you paying for yours?

Well with the program rules of the free 2 yr maintenance it goes by the OLM so just don't reset it and when it tells you change oil soon that one should be free ... heck they are going to get paid the ridiculously low $$$ for oil, filter and labor and you bring your own!
