Hey everybody..... my name is Rich and I work for Stainless Works performance exhaust. I am a big fan of the G8's and now it looks like the SS will be taking over where the G8 left off.

Anyway we are hoping to get a vehicle in our facility to use for R&D soon.

Not sure if you can even find one locally, but there are some of us Caprice guys that want headers as well. If it is true that the SS and Caprice have the same issues with the oil cooler clearance. I would think that if you do get the SS headers built, they should work on the Caprice.

So what ever company makes the first SS headers will likely get the bulk of the business. So please keep us updated here as SS and Caprice guys want this product.

Yes, I think a Caprice package will also be very popular. From what I've heard the Caprice is a bit longer and I've also heard that the suspension and rear housing dimensions are very similar as well.
Yes the Caprice has a longer wheel base and axle back as well. Any G8 axle back mufflers or pipes have to be extended to reach the tail end. The Caprice also does not have the same axle back as new SS, no longer a simple bolt for the mufflers like the G8.

As for just getting headers, unknown if they will line up the same to the stock pipes due to the longer wheel base. But I think the length is added just before the axle, so hopefully it will be OK. Once you have a SS system, measurements should be able to give a solid answer.

welcome aboard! Keep us posted on progress, great to have the aftermarket jumping into our little community :D

I was asked in a 2014 meeting what I'd like to see us develop and the SS was at the top of my personal list. The car has great potential and most American aftermarket companies have not given it much attention.

As far as I know, the Caprice and SS are the same dimensionally from B-pillar forward, so header packaging "should" be the same.

Pretty sure there is a Caprice PPV owner in Ohio or close-by to provide a R&D/validation vehicle...if the effort is going to be made for SS, the added effort for PPV should be minimal. The only thing that might pose an issue with PPV is the AFM, since 4-cylinder mode brings high potential for drone (if using non-stock mufflers or other changes to stock exhaust).
