Hey everyone,

Wife and I are anxiously looking forward to the new SS. I currently drive a Mazda RX-8 and while I'm addicting to the handling I'm ready to make the sensible step without having to give up the fun.

This will be my first domestic sports car and can't wait to learn all the new things that come with it.

Welcome aboard all the way from Australia. I've noticed plenty of Americans loved the Pontiac version of this car even with its average interior.
This new model will step up the interior creature comforts to nearer that of some luxury marques that command much higher pricing. HUD, all the latest safety gizmos, enough airbags to have some shut eye ( I wouldn't advise trying them though ;) ). Staggered wheel fitment.
Just no manual at least to start off with for NA. It should be available along with more colours i'm guessing sometime in 2014.

I've seen the VF SS-V and Calais V showcars in real life and they definitely look awesome in real life. I'd say choose your colour wisely and avoid silver.

The interior is definitely very nice from what I was seen, and I could certainly go for a more spacious interior vs. the fighter jet-like cockpit in the RX-8.

I've been trying to study up on the LS3 and the Transmission (Hydra-Matic 6L80 from what I can find). Since it will be my first domestic brand Sports car and only 3rd exposure to V8s last two were both 5.0L Fords one from an SUV the other from the new Mustang GT.. been building a quick reference power point.

Why should I avoid Silver?

No specific reason to avoid silver if thats the colour you like. In all the press photo's the silver just lacks appeal IMO. In real life it may be fine though. Heron White is a good safe colour that is rather attractive. My pick would be Perfect Blue or regal Peacock. If they decide to produce Kandy Fantale ( Holden SS-V showcar colour ) that would win hands down.Holden VF Commodore SS-V at V8 Supercars Test Day - Part 1/5 (HD) - YouTube

A blue would be a nice color! It seems the SS when sold by Chevy will only get 5 Colors though - Red Hot 2, Phantom Black, Silver Ice, Mystic Green, and Heron White

Atleast off the .pdf spec sheet I was able to find... Its not an exstensive list, just lists all the Standard Options and Colors.

I love Stryker Blue on the G8. Would love a bright blue for the SS, but historically blue hasn't been a very sought out color for GM customers. Camaro owners have voiced their opinion many times over about the different blues offered on the 5th Gen.

I have noticed this, seems like the GM crowd like colors not as flashy as blue can be, especially when it comes to the higher end GM vehicles, this might be why we haven't seen blue Cadillac's. Unless they were custom painted.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw the color list. I'm definitely a Blue guy as well. Also a fan of the Stryker G8, but ideally, in 04, the GTO was released in a Barbados Blue Metallic. Something in a steel blue would have been nice here. Mystic green sounds intriguing; will have to wait and see! :D

I'll try and take my own photos of the different colours once the VF hits the road in a few weeks.
As far as I can tell there are no other greens coming out of the plant according to colours available on our local Cruze and Commodore range. Regal Peacock is one of 3 (I believe) New Colours for this model year. The other two being Alchemy (Efijay Concept car purple)
Efiiy on Top Gear Australia. Top Gear Australia - Efijy FJ Holden Concept - YouTube
The Efijy was based on a C5/6 I think platform. That car was originally an evaluation car for HSV who were looking at doing RHD conversions
