My car came in and as my usual I brought it home and took all the plastic off out and in and washed. To my surprise both mirrors have scratches on the upper finish. Looks like someone scuffed them up to paint them.
Any body with a black SS that mirrors look like black plastic instead of body color????????????
Love this car except for this one flaw wife drove it home I followed in the z06.
One other thing is it goof begon or is it goof off that's safe for paint. I need to remove some sticker goo.

The black plastic is around the mirror head and at the bottom half its the part next to the piece that goes around the head of mirror. Can you take a close of pic of you mirror and post so I can check it out thanks. This part was cover by a white piece of plastic for shipping just like the hood, roof and trunk.

Laquer thinner is good for getting glue and stuff off and won't harm the paint. Strips the wax off, so it's good to apply wax after. It's pretty much the same as Goof Off, or whatever it's called.

Just make sure you apply with a SOFT cloth, so you don't put hairline scratches in the paint. I like to use an old T-shirt. No coarse fibers like a towel.

Rubbing alcohol, goo gone or if you really want to be safe, there is a spray sold by most auto parts stores. It is an Automotive Adhesive Remover made by 3M. I use this stuff for all of my glue, tar, bugs ect. on my cars. Just wax afterwards.

After my 3rd cup of coffee I'm headed to parts store for some mine is 15 years old so I think it needs replacing.

Thanks everyone for the comments looks like I will buff mirrors before I wax. Thought I was going to slide having to use the buffer this time.
At 70 this wrecks me to do the buff thing. Yeah I run and lift weights at the gym but do something diff and whoa even washing the vett kills my back.

System won't let me upload a pic right now. Try a pic with flash, I have more metallic in the paint than what yours is showing on the mirror. I have small swirls but I am sure it's from the dealer since I did not take the plastic off.

Well it is nice the SS has the painted black mirror caps.
The black G8's used just a black plastic cap. The SS uses the exact part number as the G8 so replacements should be plentyfull

you can buff those out using the right pads and product.

if buffing doesn't work.....wet sand! Don't try this unless you know what you're doing. I'm sure someone in the ATL can do it.

If you can't snag a fingernail in a scratch it can be polished out. Take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. If it's deep enough to snag it will need to be repainted or replaced.
