Probably best to note your location and ask someone to PM you if they know of any mod-friendly dealers in your area. We don't want to get a dealership in trouble for helping us that mod.

It is called building and managing the relationship. It is as much on the owner of the car as it is the dealership.
You'd like to think that, but, it doesn't work out that way. I am very "Mod Friendly" my whole carrer as a dealership technician, service manager and now service advisor, but, any dealeships position will be "Not Really" they cannot singlehandedly take on liabilities that the manufacterer has chosen not to and WILL hold that dealership and individual PERSONALLY responsible for such actions.

I know this first hand as nearly all of my cars have been modified, I have built 3 race cars in the dealership where I was working, 2 cars even had factory sponsorship and still the factory's position never budged.

Add that to the fact that the moment a customer gets in trouble for such mods, guess who he gives up(been there, done that...hated it)?

So, no...it ain't happenin'...

It was actually a great question, just not the best place to discuss it.

On that note, when I talked to my dealer they told me that unless the modification was related to the fault, then they had to cover the fault under warranty. Example: if I install a CAI and the driver's window stops going up and down they still have to fix the window however, if the MAF fails because the oil on the filter caused the MAF to malfunction then they do not have to cover the fault. Does that make sense?

Here's a question on mods. Does Chevrolet have any bolt ons that they do cover if it is done at a Dealer level with parts designed approved by Chevrolet? I know they would be pricey if there is? Not for the SS specifically but just in genera for any of the HiPo models

Not to my knowledge, which is crazy. Ford does offer "Ford Racing" parts that when dealer installed are covered under warranty even if not performed in conjunction with vehicle purchase. You would think that Chevy would offer CAI setups with a tune that could be dealer installed and covered under warranty. Would be a simple solution for a lot of people.

Skipping the factory warranty, for a moment, when a service writer calls the extended warranty company to get authorization for repairs, one of the standard questions is..."does the car have any modifications?" The other is ..."do you see any signs of abuse?"

So I guess I am naive in this. Why is this forum closely monitored? Is there an affiliation, partnership or just an interest and participants? I know I got my build info from chevy care which is awesome but assumed that was just a do gooder that worked at chevy :)
