It will work with the Roto intake but you will need to call them and get a larger coupler to connect the TB to the intake tube.

Thank you much the replies. I contacted Livernois, they typically prefer the factory throttle body depending on how in depth of a build. They do sell them but do not recommend them and have not installed one on the SS to give any potential gain information at this time.

I appreciated their honesty, bottom line it doesn't seem like anything I need to be concerned about with just a basic intake and tune.

Maybe not right now, but when you have headers and full exhaust along with CAI and tune then adding the other 5mm to your TB size will net some gains. Also you will want to increase the size of the MAF because if you dont it will become the restriction in the flow of air.

I did all of the reasearch on the best mods to do on an LS engine 10 years ago when I had my Firehawk and came to the same conclusion. I never got to heads, cam and headers and thus didn't need it. You only need it for more flow if you are starting to exceed the flow of the stock unit, otherwise ther is no real gain.

The stock MAF is also good to about 600-650RWHP on these cars. There are certain times that a slot type can be beneficial, but no aftermarket ones. They are purposely engineered to read incorrectly, which makes tuning near impossible.
As much as it pains me to say this, at least Ford got the MAF stuff right. they make it so the MAF can be removed from the housing and inserted into whatever intake tube or housing you purchase from the aftermarket. Makes it much easier to enlarge the intake tube for increased air flow.

GM does that too ya know, just not on these cars :) almost every other GM car has a slot type maf now.

So can a change be made to one of them? My previous vehicles were older GM and didnt have the newer MAFs. 1995 firehawk, 2001 firehawk, 2006 CTS-v.

All of the slot type MAF cars (basically everything except ss) can't be removed to be installed into a new housing. We will be working on a similar project for the SS as well.

Back when I was going to for sure do the LSA swap, I purchased the Camaro style MAF cartridge based on my tuners request. Ours are sloppy to tune with big mods.

OP, throttle bodies & throttle spacers are "Mustang RICER" mods. Claim 10 HP but in actuality it's nothing more than smoke and mirrors. They do sell a tangible product but it doesn't do sh*t. Also if you stay all motor, don't buy the FAST LSX intake manifold. You're welcome...I just saved you a grand! You'll get more gains from a stall or a custom camshaft.

I see so many "ricer" LS guys at all these street meets since the F-Bodys and GTOs are affordable.

So I was looking at getting a cam, stall , fast lsx intake manifold and fast throttle ...I've even seen a few ss's on here with the fast lsx intake manifold ....I'm curious as to why you wouldn't recommend it?

P.s. Would you recommend getting the stock throttle body and intake manifold ported instead?

I think he was referring to the intake on an otherwise stock car. You wont see much gains from it until you have other supporting mods that start to need the improved airflow.

I have done porting on my factory TB and the gains are minimal. My 2014 gained 4 RWHP and my 2015 gained 5 RWHP. Andy, comment on this as well. I have been told to not waste my time with a FAST intake as its only worth about 8RWHP on a modded engine and it 's $900. To a $1000 . My tuner got me to port my stock intake ($350.00) and that was worth 6RWHP. That's better bang for the buck in my world. Same comment on TB,better to port a stock one($150.00) than waste a ton on a bigger unit that does almost nothing. I bet you agree Andy, correct.
