Lighter Clutch Spring Thread, Batch 4

15539 Views 141 Replies 49 Participants Last post by  SSFanBoy
Hello everyone, I wanted to make a new thread to continue this in a new thread. I do not want to take away from the previous thread so I will link it here as well.

The price will be $65 shipped.

Edit: I have decided to stock these indefinitely moving forward.

ok. I’ll take on

Ok. Sorry, I must’ve misread something. Ok, yes add me to the list please. I’d like to order a spring.
You may have been on this thread: How to remove the clutch over center spring

I would not recommend removing the spring only to replace it with nothing. The clutch will remain engaged as other owners have found out.

Wait, am I to understand there were some who removed this spring and just kept it off? How did they expect the pedal to return?

I did not attempt driving my car without the spring installed, myself, but my own understanding is that the pedal does return, however, it does not return to the point that the clutch is fully disengaged. I was reading one of the threads on the topic somewhere, in the last week or so, where another of our forum members had taken his out, left it out, and was unable to use the cruise control on his SS. So, I was curious last week, when I drove to OBX, does engaging the clutch in a stick shut off cruise control, just as it does when you tap the brakes in an automatic? I found that yes, it in fact will disengage cruise control, immediately, upon pressing the clutch pedal. This must mean that, without the spring, the clutch pedal is engaging something below the dash, and that's just not worth the chance of wearing out the clutch. If I can find the exact posts regarding what causes the return of the pedal, I'll post them here for you.
The manual G8’s most definitely have a clutch spring.

That's why you're the man, and I am not! :geek: I corrected it. Can't believe everything you see on the internet, right?

Hello, currently I do not have any. I will have to build up a backlog of 15 or so to place the order as I have to order 30 minimum. Check back with me soon! Thanks
100 springs are being made now!

What grease did everyone use for the spring? I plan on getting mine installed before 2025. 😆
