When are the front LED running lights supposed to be on ?? Do the headlights have to be on?? I thought they were on all of the time, however my car had been at SW works for almost 6 weeks and I forgot what they do. I saw in SW drive by video with the car they were not on??
Thanks,
Tom

Like SlingShot said, and also it must not be in park. Put it in park and the LEDs go off.

Didn't I see someone here rewire it so they would stay on? I would do a search on the forum... I seem to remember pics and everything.

thanks for the feedback. I have never driven it in the dark and not at all for over six weeks but saw it driven in the SW video and they were not on in daytime with headlights off so don't know if lights were set on automatic or not. I was afraid when body shop changed to blackout trim on front they left something unplugged???????????????

They also work when the headlight switch is set to Parking Lights, but only when it is bright outside.

well, my idea of what DRLs should and were doing in all my previous cars is clearly different from what the Aussies were thinking.

All my previous cars had DRL on when headlights were off, regardless of light. That is how you get your insurance deduction, the lights are always on.

Them being off, ever, seems to defeat the purpose...

Either way, will test in day time with wife behind wheel just to figure out if they even work at all...

Easiest way to check them is park in front of a store with big glass windows. Great way to check tail lights too.

New York City does not have 90 degree parking to do that...its all parallel. Will need to get out of town for that. Tail lights are a pain due to extremely high pointed @$$ on this car and the nobody asked for spoiler.

It was an overcast day here in Chicago but still plenty bright and my headlights were on and DRLs weren't. I have the headlights set to auto. Seems odd no? Just because it's overcast shouldn't kick the headlights on and DRLs off right. And when I say overcast I mean mildly overcast.

It has been noted frequently that the sensor controlling the auto headlamp function seems to be hyperactive in all years of the SS.

Good to know because there was nowhere near enough cloud cover for those things to be on today. It was odd. Thanks for the reassurance

Parked facing glass today with plenty of light and light switch at Auto. Started car in neutral (M6) with no LED's. Shifting to reverse turned the LED's on, shifting back to neutral turned them off. Shifting to first, no LED's. Backed out with LED's on, shifted to first, LED's stayed on. Not sure exactly when they are on or off, but I always thought they were on all the time while the lights were on Auto and headlights off.

they should be on anytime you are in gear and your headlights are not on...you cannot have your parking brake on either they are designed to illuminate when you are driving other than when your headlights or parking lights are on...

And on the 16's they should be on, but dimmed, when headlamps are on and in gear.
