Could the SS be an interim product, pending GM's new larger-sized rear-drive platform, expected in a couple of years? I mean, let's hope not - we need a V-8 BMW killer made in the USA! But with the Corvette LS3 6.2 litre engine and a six-speed paddle shift automatic, this may be the one.

The LS3 is an incredibly small engine.
It easily fits in Cayman, Boxster, Miata, BRZ/FR-S.

A much LIGHTER and smaller ATS-V and 2015 Camaro will feature Chevy V8 engines.
The SS Sedan might be a band-aid that arrived WAY too late.
The SS Sedan should have been released in 2008 instead of the failed G8 from the shuttered Pontiac brand.
The G8 GT has a $29,995 MSRP and was a great car in 2008.
But, in 2013, and with a $45,000 MSRP, not so much.
Can't compare the two. Need to compare G8 GXP to SS if you want to talk price.

When adjusted for inflation, Bob's your uncle that's pretty much where the price increase comes from.
