The SS can be a great daily driver as any large sedan would be, but is going to be your daily driver or just a "fun car" to you for evening, weekends and the track?

If you're not going to daily drive the SS, state why, there are many reasons why some of us may not drive this V8 beast every day of the week...so lets hear it!

I won't be driving it every day, it is a 8 after all. I have my fuel efficient car already and my daily commutes are really long. Rather not put my SS through that.

If I get one it would be my daily driver....and I do a decent amount of driving. My 08 Impala SS has over 148k miles on it now. When I bought it I wanted a G8 but couldn't wait any longer for them to release the car. Bought my car in Oct 07. I have to say that even with a dated platform my taxicab/police car has been pretty good... Ya really can't beat a small block even if it drives the front wheels!

I know some people like to baby their cars especially when it's something special like the SS. Also depending on how long your daily commutes are, a V8 might not be the best choice. Some people have really fuel efficient cars for commuting and their cool/fun cars for other times.

Good question. I can see some reasons for "upgrading" to the SS from a G8 but if I already owned a G8 im not sure if I would sell it for an SS.

I rather beef up my G8 and in the long run have a car that performs how a real "four door corvette" would.

Paid $22K thanks to the Pontiac firesale here in Houston as the dealers were getting rid of stock as fast as they could.

Quick search on Edmunds says trade in is ~$17K and Private Sale is ~$18K. I could get probably 10% more or less depending on how fast I want to sell it.

Hmmmm... So 4 year old car and I'm down only $5K at the most.

I'm sure you will say I should never get that much for it... blah blah blah... but according to one of the leading car authorities I WILL get that much for it.

Like I said, every G8 seller is just looking to bend a buyer over.

That is exactly why I bought another C6, and I suggest every other used G8 buyer buys a C5 or C6 instead.
I have watched NEW GM police cars (Holden Commodores) go for $18k at manufacturer sales. So, that's a much better deal than your used, discontinued model with mileage from a failed and terminated auto brand .....
