I can't seem to get text messaging to work, can anybody shed some light on what I need to do ? Or what kind of phone do I need, maybe Iphone5 doesnt work Thanks

My wife uses Samsung S4 I think, along with Motospeak. It automatically reads her messages, then ask if you want to reply via voice commands.

thats what I want to be able to do, wonder if I have to download an app for Iphone5 to work that way

I really don't have an answer for you, I use a I4s but never tried setting it up for texting. Have you tried using the Siri eyes feature.

Go to Settings, Bluetooth, and click the i next to your vehicle.
Turn on "Show Notifications"

I made the mistake of not having my SMS on during set up it delete the page for texts. I now have the option of starting over by going to factory settings or live without it.

I got it working by following that video's instructions. so if I can get do itanic: anybody can....I am so non-tech. Have to answer through Siri.

Wow thats REALLY odd, I've NEVER seen it supported IE in any of the applications where I pair any IOS device it never allows MAP access. I need to go play with this some more, you shouldn't have to use SIRI for them if its true MAP though; good find!

Only thing I can think of is the phone supports it for Email and not Texts or the Texts app doesn't support it, this was a huge issue with CUE and the texts app had to be pulled for '13 and they released the siri app for '14. You guys have it working and pulling messages and replying through the screen without siri OR maybe that was the work around?

You can answer through Siri (which you summon from steering wheel) or send a scriped message that you can make up
and store it. Then use it to answer. Thats the only way I was able to.

Ok so thats what I've seen as well not direct text mailbox access like on Android. That apparently was the work around which works!

(I deleted my original post so I didn't put erroneous info out there).

I can't rec SMS messages I don't have a text account I use the iPhone messaging since all my family use's iPhones. Wonder if it will work with that if I turn on SMS and start radio from factory settings.
When you do set up if you don't have SMS activated it turns off that screen.

Thanks. I have to say "show notifications" is not the intuitive fix. Still, texts now work. Just wish the interface would read emails as I do more by email then text.

Doug, I turned off Imessage then repaired the phone and it started working. I believe it still works now that I turned imessage back on as well. under pairing just click forget device and repair the phone. Hope that works for you.

How does it work......say with a Samsung phone, if you know. Does it read and answer them ?

With an Android you get direct access to all of the messages, you can scroll through them no siri intervention it can read them and send canned replies if you are moving.

I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy 4, it is so much better in a lot of ways than Iphone, especially the Camera. It takes such great pictures, my friend has one I'm going to check them again
