Having a lot of experience in the service end of the biz I think starting a specific thread limited to initial problems and outcomes would be a good thing.

Already saw potential alignment issue as well as DRL LEDs.

Can we please try and keep it on topic .....

My alignment is about 5 to 10 degrees off. That is, my steering wheel is tilted about 5 to 10 degrees left when I'm driving completely straight. If I straighten the steering wheel, the car veers slightly right. I took it to the dealer with 170 miles and they told me that they like to wait for at least 500 miles, preferably 700 before messing with steering & suspension items until the car "settles." As a former mechanic, I'm sure nothing will change but since it's not a huge deal right now, I told him I'd wait.

There are plusses and minuses to letting the car 'settle'.

Yes let it settle for caster/camber issues; but off centered steering wheel screams toe which will be only minorly affected by settling.

Just watch all the tires for feathering; if its off bad they will chew up fast.

50k car and they cant even get that right off the boat thats a shame looks like G8 problems again.
In fairness, these cars spend a LOT of time strapped to a boat, and that will impact bushings and other rubber bits on the car as they build up a "memory" of the position they were locked into for up to a month.

Small price to pay IMO for receiving a well built Australian vehicle. My G8 has been great to me since I bought it in May of 2008. I had front control arms replaced once by dealership, did it twice myself. Also replaced my front strut mounts and bushings, but they were only collapsed, it has been mentioned that it's not defective per-say, and doesn't really need to be done but I decided a nice set of poly bushings was in order.

Hey CB, will you please PM me with what is going on with your DRL LEDs?

Nate, did you take your SS back to the dealership to get your visor repaired?

He had said something about the LEDs not coming on. My guess is, like a lot of newer LED DRLs, the car needs to be out of park for them to be on.
Mine turn on when I auto start the car, so I don't think this is true. My 2013 Acadia also is always on regardless of the transmission. I did notice the SS turns them off when the headlights come on

Just stopped in with 550 miles, service department said they (GM) wants 1000 miles on the car before alignment. I asked for it in writing so if tire issues happen they will cover it.

Smart move having them put it on the RO. With soft sticky tires that have an expected tread life of 5-10K miles, 1K miles with a bad alignment certainly will set the uneven wear pattern and chew them up. I'd keep a close eye on all 4 for feathering and camber wear and if it starts to become noticeable run to the dealer irregardless of miles!

That sounds like crap. They told me they want 500 miles and the service dude recommended 750... I'm not waiting 1000 miles, that's stupid.

I'm going to show up right at 750 and if they try to turn me away, it will be unpleasant. The steering wheel is not going to fix itself.

I don't remember issues like that in the G8. Sounds bogus to me. Japanese cars make the boat trip and drive straight right away.

PS- make sure you folks check tire pressures before leaving the lot. That was an issue we had.
