Right so all this the SS should of and shouldn't going on lately in just about every thread seems like it could use a new home. So here for general usage i would like to set up the Wild Eyed Speculation Thread. Its a place where we can bandy about what next years SS or the next generation SS is going to be like. now this can be based of substantiated industry rumors, how you see the stars lining up or simply what you want. Just lets try and keep it semi civil and if your going to make something up at least let us know first ;)

Ok I'll go first...

When (if) the SS switches to Alpha I'd like to see a V6 option. I don't want to buy a V6 option but if they did have tiered engine selections the SS could no longer be called the SS, which opens the door for the Chevelle. So we could have a base Chevelle with the V6 and a return of the Chevelle SS with the burly 8....

BTW those pics are from dirty mary crazy larry, EXCELLENT drivers flick :D

remember, play nice :panic:

I would LOVE for GM to bring back the Chevelle and just make it as a sedan version of every future Camaro going forward.

I don't even care if the rear doors must swing in an awkward way due to the smaller size (suicide style or gullwing style)

thats what I'm saying it would sell like kinghellfreak, especially to those on a nostalgia kick. You just have to look at what the Camaro did sales wise when they brought it back.Even the charger and challenger had a big emotional factor involved because those names were gone for so long.

Even if the next gen alpha SS downsized a bit to ATS size then you have the ATS sized Chevelle SS/RS and the Camaro also on alpha same size as ATS coupe... Winning strategy IMO...

That Alpha chassis is a German hunting weapon not seen since the days of WW2 ;) ahahaa

Neat! Might let a bit more water in on rainy days though.

What about doors like at this link Disappearing Car Door - YouTube weird and cool
Interesting but i think it would A) add alot of heft to the car B) many moving parts to break compared to a simple door hinge C) no power no doors opening and D) it seems like a very high end feature for a Chevy.

I could see that fly on a range topping Caddy for instance...

I would like to see the entire Commodore range sold in the USA from Evoke through to Calais V ,Caprice and HSV in Sedan, Sport Wagon and Ute. In V6 ,V8 and super charged forms.
It would be good if it happened, but the commodore with a V6 would compete with the impala at a higher price range, the only other suitable model chev could use is the Calais V V8 as an SS luxury model

As for HSV they don't belong to GM, they are an after market tuner same as callaway

Actually HSV is part owned by Holden and is classified as a manufacturer in their own right. HSV had to satisfy GM head office with the engineering done on the GTS fitted with the LSA from the GTS specific drivetrain which required major work to actually bolt in on the Elizabeth assembly line.

On the export side Ryan Walkinshaw is on record as wanting to export to NA (if a business case can be worked out, the problem is pricing ) and several other markets, it is just requiring specific approvals to go ahead with exports.
HSV if I recall have ownership of the CSV designation for the Middle East market, hence why a CSV Lumina races in Europe in the Super Stars category Superstars® - International Series

Sounds like HSV shares the same relationship with GM and Callaway and Hennessy here. Cally is already at work on something for SS and im sure Henny will be quickly behind them, I don't know if the business case could be made to have 3 hi-po versions of the SS stateside...

Yep you are right on that, it would be a stretch. I know Hendricks wanted to set up essentially his own version of HSV in the States. He went as far as to visit HSV and talk with the owners. From memory they did look at exporting from Aus but with the high dollar didn't quite get the numbers down.
I guess the Hendricks thing could be a watch this space. And I am sure he is working on stuff to sell through his Chain of dealers.

This will be interesting. Knowing what Callaway is capable of, and after seeing a teaser of what their SS might look like, I can't wait to see it. Would be cool if we can get into contact with them to find out what's going on.
