Oh I agree. Hands down the SS kills it. STI is purely for the handling/funness of the car.
The STi looks too boy racer for me. Every time I see someone driving one, they're usually wearing a backwards baseball cap.

Here's my question, GM hasn't specified if there will be an SS replacement, but what if they actually have one in the works that would better compete with the offerings from Dodge? I can imagine being completely suckered into paying close to MSRP for a '16 SS only to have GM come out with a 455 HP 4-door version of the Camaro SS in 2018. I wonder how bad the SS would drop in resale.

Just my .02

Order what you want, exactly the way you want it and be prepared to wait 5-6 months. But, you'll get exactly what you want. Don't settle just because is 20% off! You'll always wonder "what if I only......" This is the last year! Go for it.

I'd rather have $10K to play around with. Considering the SS doesn't grab me visually (so color is no big deal to me) and the options list isn't that long to begin with (the only option I'd seek out is standard on the SS which is the vented seats), I'll take my chances on one being around. If $10K was the difference between the auto and the manual, I guess I'll be driving around a slush-box, with remote start.

I'm on the other side of the field. If it was me, and $10K was the difference between the auto and manual, then I'd be short $10K more dollars. :| If I was willing to get an automatic, then I'd be driving around in something other than an SS, which I would've purchased more than 3 years ago.

What makes the automatic appealing to me (at the 20% off) is the remote start. I think there's something to be gained by being able to remotely start the LS3 with someone nearby, comedic value if you will, and being able to step into a cool vehicle in 100+ degree weather (both literally and figuratively). The only way I'll consider it is if that's all that remains of the 2016s in December. While the prospect of being able to row my own gears again sounds appealing, I don't think it's worth near $50K, not this car, anyways.

The only 3 reasons I found to like the STI over the SS were the fold down rear seat, better seat bolstering, and excellent AWD system for increment weather/offroad.

I bought the SS because everything else :p

Regarding emissions, I think Myron has mentioned in the past that he had to order the CA emissions code for people buying from him from CA. That may be a issue buying an out of state car. Good luck with your search.

The looks of this car grew on me and when it did , then i was in love with it . Now owning it , i think it is beautiful and all that malibu / impala disappeared .

For me , in my situation , i had to buy now or never . I have let out finally in the public forum that my father is very ill and he wanted me to get this car and ride in it etc . It all depends on each individuals situation , financial and future and present .

If you can afford this car at msrp i would still buy it . I think it is still a steal for that price compared to lets say the bmw m5 .

After owning it a couple days and driving that manual .... ahhhh .... and i did not buy it to resell or anything . So i am not worried about the value later . A CAR is NEVER a good investment , i thought this was a given .

However , just get what you want when you want but if you want this one you better hurry , that is all i can say .

Watch all the reviews on YT and decide . This car is a whole different car in a manual . NO OFFENSE to anyone who buys an automatic , i almost did . Then , i went for the manual . Based this on reviews . This car ranks 5 stars and is considered one of the top cars of 2016 by car and driver . It is a great car i have had many ( blows nails and wipes off on shirt ) and i have good taste too . :D lol

Drive one. You'll change your tune.
I probably would've driven one by now if not for the safety recall. I'm sure it's really similar to the 06 GTO I had, but improved as the GTO was 10 years old. I loved how easy it was to kick out the rear end on the GTO and still be able to point the car in the direction you wanted. Not many cars inspire sideways driving, and I'm sure the SS handles just as well, if not better thanks to the shocks.

I know C&D thought well of the car, but I don't remember seeing it on its 10 best list. I would've been curious to see how it would've fared in their Lightning Lap issue. My guess is one of their staff writers has driven that car on that track.

Lots of good info on here, it all comes down to what you want. I would be happy in an STI or an SS. The thing is you can buy an STI any day of the week and the SS is just such a special car. I'll keep you guys posted. Might jump on the black one next month, might order one from Myron.

Someone else posted how terrible a dealer in Tombal Texas treated them.
Wait, what? That is where I have my deposit for a '17 (I have the paperwork to back it up at least).

*Furiously searches for "Tomball" in old posts*

If there's something I need to know about them, please tell me.

Do you think they are going to up-charge me on the car once it finally does arrive? :eek

I think he posted in the seatbelt recall thread. Seems like they really worked him over, granted he had an emotional reason for buying the car and the dealer knew it.

I believe that it was 6SpdManualSilver and he did post about that dealer.

Found it by searching the username and dealer name. Thanks for that. I'll keep all that in mind when dealing with them later (still waiting on it to exit 3300 status).

I thought I had missed the boat also.

None left here in Long Island but I just put a deposit down on the last one that popped up yesterday. They had been waiting to put it up until they had completed the recall service.

It was the owner of the dealerships car and has 3200 miles on it. It has never been registered so it is still considered new and they had tagged it before the deadline with 20% off. They were only willing to discount to a final price of $37,100 but just as I was trying to ask for more another customer walked in and wanted to buy it. Turned out after speaking to him he already had one and was looking to hold the car for his brother. This was at 8:00 pm right before closing so ruined any chance of knocking off a few more dollars.

But after test driving I am okay with the final price and happy to have one. Cant wait to pick it up tomorrow!

Wishing you the best of luck also.
