Be reminded that there is near parity between the US and Australian dollar. These prices, plus destination, are likely what we are going to see.

Without a manual transmission.

the cheap import market has realy hit holden hard on price point, if this attemt to regain market place failes, the days of a big sedan are numbered, maybe i have time for one more new car before retirment

i can bet the ss-v redline will have all the goodies of my calais v and much more, one thing i wont use is park assist, i drive a bread truck all night/morning so the day i can't park a car is the day i throw it all in and hand in my licence
at least they dumped those ugly round air vents from VEII

caprice is commodore based but modified for a long wheelbase body also the WN caprice V is only built fully loaded, even more so then the USA model SS
the latest has all the interior updates but no change to the body,
it is almost the same as your cop cars to look at, the 2014 caprice ppv will get the new interior and some tech updates based on real cop input from those who drive them.

So does this mean the Caprice is still going to be a PPV or a PPV and civilian vehicle as well, cause that "built fully loaded" part got to me.

should have been more carfull

the usa only gets the police ppv version,
where the caprice is sold to the public ie: aus/nz/me it is offered fully loaded, but the me market does have lower grade models available, they (the me) also get an ss version of the caprice which nobody else gets, their top line model is called the caprice royal (same as aus caprice V)
go on youtube and watch the arabs having fun with caprices, they are nut cases, the stuff they do insane.

you can't simply do a currency conversion for this purpose. All of the listed Australian pricing includes 10% GST for a start.
There are too many other internal variable like Holden purchase the V8 drivetrains from NA so GM powertrain may charge a lower price for the LS3 that will be shipped back stateside. It's all about shuffling numbers around to get the best case scenario.

pricing is also based on projected volumes. Holden Monaro was only projected to sell around 10 thousand in total so pricing was 60 grand in australia. When Lutz jumped on the 2 door coupe sales of the LHD Monaro sold 50 thousand over the life of the program therefore US pricing reflected the higher volume. Albeit at a lower Aussie dollar. I predict pricing will go not much higher than $42995 It may even sit dead on with GXP money. With CAFE I doubt you will see V8's in the low 30's.

Just an out of the blue question though. Does CAFE apply to Service vehicles against a manufacturers fleet average ie: Police, Fire etc?
