Well, the conversion back to a Holden Commodore will be much easier and cheaper this time around, compared to the gto, g8 and caprice. Anyone considering doing it? If i ever do get a SS i would probably order the parts as soon as I ordered the car.

Looks like all the SS will need are wheel center caps, front grill, rear trunk holden badge, SS door badges and a new airbag cover. The one thing that could take a bit of work would be reprogramming the MyLink. Im sure its possible, just not sure how difficult it would be.

Yeah, im sure someone will eventually figure it out. Just not sure who and when and for how much. Everything else is easily done.

Now if GM would get their heads out of their asses and ship a blue to the states it would be all good.

Actually just thinking about it, if you want to go the full Holden, you will also need a SS-V badge for the rear trunk and a new trim piece with SS-V on the front passenger side of the dashboard above the glovebox. That would be the hardest to do, as they only make them for RHD cars with that embroidering. You would probably have to get it custom made for your car. If you do, then you need it to have the V in red, as your car is basically a Redline edition SS-V. Of course no Redline comes with a dark gray interior or exactly the same seats and trim and some only come with black alloy wheels, come to think of it, so its about how far you want to go.

Whatever the case, it would be very cool to see a Holden badged Commodore cruising the streets. Make sure to post video and photos when you are done. :)

If I get an SS, I will be doing the Holden conversion, though I would probably limit it to exterior badging and maybe the steering wheel airbag cover. I'd probably change the wheels, too! ;)

All of you G8 people, do you all not know about "Crazy Paul" from Australia that sells to us in America Holden appearance parts?

If you Google him it is the first hits that come up and he appears to me to be well trusted on the G8 and New Caprice forums. There are some posts on the G8 boards of converted G8 to HSV/SS-V. Turn around is like 10-15 days due to customs, but worth the wait as his prices are good on the badging.

I have a 2011 Caprice PPV and have ordered the Holden grille and rear badge to give it that Holden look. My parts just cleared US customs so I should have them in a few days.

I would also consider turning from Chevy to Holden. I wouldn't have to change everything. Mostly the badges on the exterior. Some of the changes don't seem worth the time, or at least I would go after those parts last. I just like the Holden badge better than the Chevy badge. That's basically the reason why.

I agree, swap the bow ties for the Holden Badge. Anyone know if this is a complicated procedure? I've never taken a badge off before and would hate to F it up. Or is it best to leave it to a pro? I'm not a pro.

The badge on these or at least my Caprice is just 3M double sided tape with no holes in the trunk lid. You take either fishing line or a plastic bondo putty scraper to remove the badge along with a heat gun on low. After the emblem is off you can use Goo Gone & a soft cotton cloth to get the sticky stuff off. The Goo Gone is allot more work over an Adhesive remover like 3M, but Goo Gone is a much safer product.

There are some good videos on Youtube on how to de-badge a vehicle.

If you know anyone that works at a body shop they may have the 3M adhesive eraser wheel that works without the use of all that Goo Gone or other chemicals. This is what I use and just erases all that sticky tape off with easy. I completely removed my Chevy emblem in like 5 minutes with the wheel. Only down side is they are expensive, but I used it often enough to justify the purchase price of $30.

Front bow tie is an upper grill swap, easy to do, just take your time the first time you do it, lower Holden grill has a front plate recess built in, good fit those who don't want to drill their chev lower grill, freight for both would be the same as one grill.

Yup, that's how most are. I doubt there would be anything extra such as a hole for the badge if it has a prong behind it. That would suck.
The Monaro and GTOs had prongs... :( And the G8s and GTOs front arrowheads had prongs.

Even if the rear badge has prongs on it, im assuming the new Holden Lion badge would line up.

Sounds interesting. Wonder how the front sensors work, if there are slots for them in the Holden grill.
