Ok...so...someone PLEASE send your SS to John Hennessey down in TX (www.hennesseyperformance.com) to work on your new car! I wanna see what he can/will do to it! Drooling....:eek:mg:

BTW...I'm in no way affiliated with Hennessey... I just love what he's done with Corvettes and Camaros... love the sound and performance he gets.
There are at leaset three of us that will have SSs in Austin, which is about 1.5 hours from Sealy, TX. One person has there's already, the rest of us are waiting.

Seen this???? They already have a page for the SS!!!! And it says turbo upgrades!!!!

Chevrolet SS | Upgrades, Performance Parts & Accessories | Hennessey Performance

"Stay tuned for more upgrade information for the 2014 Chevrolet SS 6.2L V8 motor. Including: high flow air induction systems, engine management tuning upgrades, high-flow intercooler systems, exhaust system upgrades, turbo system upgrades, Brembo brake upgrades, suspension upgrades and wheel and tire upgrades."

hennessey was accused of fraud involving vipers, you can google if if you're bored. it was a long time ago and really just a tongue in cheek mention. i think he's well regarded these days.

John Hennessey actually owns a 2014 Chevy SS. He signed final paperwork and took delivery of it today. Expect a press release real soon of dyno numbers before and after!

Hennessey definitely had some issues with the Vipers and I think they overcharge for much of the work they do. That said, I have recently been to their shop and have driven some of their vehicles and they are nice. I put a 426 stroker in my daughter's SRT Charger and Hennessey tuned it. We ended up with about 585 hp at the crank with a very mild cam, stock intake and throttle body. The guy that built the motor was a former Sr. engine builder for Hennessey who is now doing work on his own. He said they generally do really good work but do charge too much for it.

Who else offeres a warranty and doesn't charge as much as Hennessey? Callaway seems to charge just as much, if not more.

Additionally, I emailed Hennessey yesterday asking if they were going to have turbo option for the stock motor and they asked me if I would be willing to bring my car in asap for R&D in their response. I'm not saying John didn't buy an SS, but I don't think his staff knows it if he did.

I suppose it depends on what setup with turbos you are going for as to the R&D route they are alluding to. Not overly familiar but the SS Hennessey might be for a different setup.
On the plus side of doing volunteering for R&D you probably get wicked deals for being a Guinea Pig depending on the mob modding your car of course

His staff runs a little behind, because he's not at the office that much. Saw this on FB this morning. He wants to do a mild build he was telling me, without LTs, cause this is more of a luxury cruiser. His HammerWagon (CTS-V station wagon) was a bit over the top loud for a luxury cruiser. It sounded like he wanted to do a blower and a small cam with the SS. Just enough to surprise people.

**** yeah. The sales guy I spoke with said they're offereing two packages right now: the HPE 600 (supercharged) and the HPE 550 (naturally aspirated). I'm very seriously considering doing the 600 early next year some time for the same reason John stated.

Hennessey = Overrated

They are just a NAME BRAND in the performance world.

Dallas Performance does better work for the $$$$

Dallas Performance | Performance Turbo and Supercharger Systems

Do they warranty it and does the name actually add value? I have a shop I work with a lot in San Antonio and they're perfectly capable of installing a supercharger or turbo kit as well as tuning; I've had them do all kinds of work to my Cobras. However, letting them install a turbo or supercharger kit will void my factory warranty and the fact that that shop did the work doesn't add anything to the price of the vehicle. Don't get me wrong, maybe people in the know will feel more comfortable knowing they did the work and because of that, may be willing to pay a little more, but you don't get the kind of bump in value you get from the car being Hennessey vehicle. Effectively it becomes a collector's item.

I know what you're saying, but if you're worried about resale value and your warranty, like I am, Hennessey is a great. For me, whether the car is a project car or a daily driver is primary in choosing between shops like Dallas Performance and Hennessey.
