Hello SS members!

My name is Jackie and I work with the Social Media Customer Care department for General Motors. The GM Social Media team is responsible for scanning over sixty forums, including this one, in order to provide customer service to those who utilize them. While we are not able to provide technical assistance, we are able to help in terms of customer assistance. You may have seen us on other forums Facebook, or Twitter. Our team is here to share in your ownership experiences and to answer any questions you may have about your SS, whether it be how to operate different functions on the vehicle, provide warranty information or recall details, or give you any additional support we can if you should need to work with a GM service department to address any concerns you may encounter on your vehicle. Even more exciting, though - we can also check into any vehicle order inquiries for you as you await your SSes! Please private message us your order number and we'll get you as much information as we can.

You may also see other representatives on this account. Don't be alarmed - our team operates across different shifts, and forum assignments may fluctuate.

Cool! Jackie, could you set the record straight on how the ordering process works for the SS. It was initially reported that the car was build-to-order on a 90 day turn-around. Now it appears a small number of cars from the early production runs have been allotted to certain dealerships, but customers cannot necessarily walk into their local Chevy store and place an order. Thanks!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the welcome. I will get some concrete answers for you regarding the ordering process for the SS and post here on Monday. I want to confirm a few things before I answer this so that I can give you all correct information. I will post an answer here on Monday. I will give an update on all the order numbers that have been messaged to me then as well. Thank you all for your patience. I will be in the office at 8am on Monday. Well thanks for the welcome Todd. If you have a manual SS here on US soil then you definitely know something that I don't.

This may sound like a stupid question but I plan to walk into my 3 local Chevy dealers tomorrow and ask them.
What's my chances of seeing/driving a Chevy SS from the dealer before ordering or buying one?

Is Chevy ever going to update the SS website? Needs to show more photos, color options, 360 views, build your own (even though there are only a few options). People might not even realize its for sale yet.

No question is stupid Diehard. You all can feel free to ask me anything SS related and I will answer or get the answer if I don't have it. That's what I am here for. We are glad to be here GXPaycheck! Like I said I will have some answers for you all on Monday. Thanks for being patient and thanks for the warm welcome. :smile:

Eagerly awaiting your response on Monday.

I'm hoping we can order and wait, rather then play the dealer markup game.

I've got a test drive voucher that expires on Nov. 1st. And I'm hoping to be able to at least sit in an SS.

Hi and welcome, Hopefully you will get to seat yourself in one, and if you do I think you won't be dissapointed by what you see and touch.

How many orders for SS's have been recorded thus far?

Jackie, what is the best way to set this up? What has worked best for you on other sites?

A single thread with questions and answers? If so, we should have the MODs move and sticky this thread in the general discussion section.

Or, they could setup a section just for you so the individual topics have better visibility.

Good morning,

I am not sure when the website will be updated but I can answer any questions that you have about specs, colors and other details from the SS in the meantime BahamaTodd. The color choices are five exterior colors: Red Hot 2, Phantom Black, Silver Ice, Mystic Green and Heron White. The two options available are sunroof and a spare (a full size tire and wheel). There are a very limited number of SS's being produced.
Production of the SS is in line with the production of similar full-size, V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive performance sedans. Unfortunately I do not have production numbers or order updates at this time. I did private message everyone that has sent me questions about their order status.

The best way to reach me would be here on this thread or by private message. I check direct messages right away but it often takes some time to search through threads so PM is the quickest and best way.

I currently drive a Buick Lacrosse but my baby was a Mystic Teal 1998 Camaro z28 that I had to let go of recently.

Can you tell us what kind of information you're hoping becomes available? Also, can you give us any general information about production? For example, you may know that no cars that have been ordered have been produced yet. My sales person says that his computer says my vehicle hasn't been produced yet. The order was accepted on September 12th.

I have a daily driver that I want to sell and I'll have to rent a car until my vehicle arrives. So, obviously, I don't want to sell my car if we're at least 3 months out. In my case, general information about production could help me out a lot.

Hi Whiskuz,

I guess the main thing is order information. I would love to be able to give you guys updates on your order status as I promised but when I got in this morning I learned that that information is not available right now for any of the order numbers that were sent to me yesterday. I apologize for that. I can assure you that I am going to stay on top of this and keep checking on all of the order numbers sent to me.

Unfortunately it will be longer than a 90 day turn around, I do not have a specific time frame. I think once we get a bit further in I can give you a more definite date. As far as an estimated production guide number, approximately two-thirds of the planned builds have been allocated to date.
