Paint them with Dupli-Color caliper paint. Beautiful wheels until you see the rusting rotor. It lasted a week before I had to paint them. Colors are Red, Yellow, Black, Silver, and Blue spray can or brush on. (I use brush on) I painted the caliper and the rotor.

I've had really good luck with Rustoleum high performance enamel color = aluminum. Redid my G8 GXP rear rotors for rust in the cooling fins and hat area and they matched perfect. I did however pull the rotors off, bead blast, wipe down with rubbing alcohol, 120 psi air nozzle blast and job done. The pain is you have to replace the caliper bolts because they are torque to yield and cannot be reused. Did I mention I'm a fussy owner?

I have been using Dupli-Color for years. Painted the calipers red on my wife's red SS Monte Carlo we had and they stayed painted for 10 years. Doing very complete preparation is the key to a lasting paint job.
But you really go the extra, extra mile.
yup,
best advice. i've used their paints numerous of times and a lot of it is preperation and painting in a clean and dust free environment and applying in light coats.

For surface rust? How many times would they let you get them replaced? The simpler fix seems to be a little paint . Less times at the dealer the better.
Less times at the dealer = not having to worry about some yahoo driving your car, parking it too close to the next one, getting greasy fingerprints on your stuff.... fussy = me!

You also forgot these......

2003 Monte Carlo taken to dealer for free oil change. Had to have ground effects kit replaced because kid doing the oil change crushed them when he lifted the car.

2013 Malibu taken to dealer to have front headlight assembly replaced because it was leaking and filling with water. Had to have front end painted because of large scratch and chipped paint.

2014 SS Forgot to remove red spring shipping blocks.

All cars with less than 1000 miles on them. So you go right ahead and take it to the dealers as much as you want because they will take such good care of your expensive pride and joy.

As for me, I will do whatever I can to keep it away from the dealers. And on a plus side, if I am out in the garage my wife is happy knowing I am not out somewhere getting into trouble. Also she is standing by with the first aid kit. I tend to leave a little bit of myself with each job if you know what I mean.

Hey Doug...Agree; however I showed mine to the dealer last week when I had the oil changed and the service writer told me to put some more miles on the car? As if that would remove the rust! LOL! So that told me they would not re-place unless there is a GM buletin recall stating to replace them! Sounds like we need to paint them Black?

Anybody have a part number for the rear caliper bracket bolts? I want to take the rotors off glass bead and paint them. Thanks.
