First of all I greatly appreciate the fact the SS is here. I love my 09 G8 GT (bought new the day after Thanksgiving '08) and although I haven't driven an SS yet, I love the interior and enhancements that have found their way into this platform. I'm glad I have an option should it become time to trade mine in. However I feel GM could've added a little of Pontiac's 'Excitement' to the SS. The color pallet seems a bit on the boring side compared to the offerings when the G8 became available. Somehow the exterior styling seems to be, well, boring. I know to each his own, but just wondering if anyone else feels that they could've added a little more sportiness to the look of the car?

Probably...but what did you have in mind?

Remember, the G8 was a grownups GTO and was a product of the GTO criticizm. So, basicly, it, too, had growing pains. While my wife will agree with you on style, she saw one for the first time in person and reacted..."Is that it?...I would take a second look at it..." Then I begged her to look at the Motor Trend article of it. She did and saw the mystic green and said "maybe it was the color(white) that made it look so plain and the Green makes it better looking."

Also, her last car was Thunder Grey, which has a green tint to in certain light and she loved that one. But, you know, her current car is white, our Q45. Infiniti calls it Ivory, its kind of a pearl color and she likes that one, too. I then stood up and told her, "Hey that Q you was not voted the most beautifulist thang on the road, it looks rather plain, too, you know!", then she says, "yeah but it drives great, it's luxurios and fast"...then I said "so is your next car, baby"! Then she says, "oh, I guess you're right".

Sometimes you just gatta stand up to theses women and tell em' like it is.:yahoo:

...Here she comes,....gotta go!

No, The SS doesn't have that "racer boy" look and maybe that's why its considered boring to some however, it does have an aggressive stance, sound and acceleration that will make you look twice and it's that second look that I personally enjoy.... And it's because, I know you're thinking "What is that?" I guess I'm just one of the many on this Forum who gets
"it" Now, it's up to each individual to decide what that "it" is about this Vehicle that calls your name but, boring looks and maybe the SS isn't sporty enough, wrong colors, no Pontiac excitement, Mmm IS NOT why we answered the call...especially at $50k est. There is quite an attraction going on. Lol.

A G8 on the road always catches my eye. I prefer the look of the Pontiac's front fascia, hood and front fenders to the SS. I'm not a fan of the chrome on the SS, the fender vents or the enormous (to my eye) Bow Tie emblem. On a 3/4 rear view I'd prefer the SS. Something about the G8's C-pillar doesn't look right to me.

I partially feel the same as you do (CPD004). Even though I love my SS, I was a little more attached to the aggressive look of my two G8 GTs. I think they should have added the hood scoops, and even could have added rear heated seats, the Black Tie Emblem and the option for running the DTL at anytime. Although the G8 didn't have all of these features, the G8 looked a little better. Not having the hood scoops just makes the SS look even more like a sleeper car.

I've only seen a white one and only got a quick look at that. I wish there was a way to get the interior of the SS mixed with exterior of my G8. I perfectly understand 'to each his own.' Just wish they would've dialed up the sporty 'boy racer' vibe a little. At 40 I'm still a 'boy racer' at heart. It's great that this car even exists. And when the time comes, it'll definitely be at the top of my list for a replacement to my G8. Who knows, maybe the General will add some kind of option package unique to the SS: like Z06, Z28, ZR1.

Initially, I was not a fan of the SS, but it has grown on me quite a bit. I agree that it doesn't look quite as aggressive as the G8,but it I think it has some classy aggressiveness to it. If I didn't have a (modded to my liking) G8 that I was happy with, I would be looking to pick one up. It has to be a great car based on the high praise that I have for the G8.

Yeah the look is more grown up from the G8...but it has an executive car look. With that said I think some of the accents that are in the AUS version really make the car stand out. I too wish they had some other options but the car looks very nice in person.

I think we have taken better pictures of the car than GM did or even most of the articles.

I don't miss my 888 White GT at all...glad I made the jump.

First off I'd like to say G'day and welcome. What colour SS did you end up getting? Maybe down the track you could modify the front end with one of these

They look pretty decent down here, Still not 100% sold on the rear styling but love the Tail lights

With the exception of the G8, in my opinion Pontiac was usually prone to over-wrought, tacky, gimmicky styling (not counting the muscle car era).

The SS is a welcome understated classy design execution.

Agreed. I've never been a huge Pontiac fan and am still not a huge fan today other than the G8 but was able to live with it knowing that underneath it, it was really a Holden with a Chevy engine. I'm typically a bowtie guy but Chevy didn't offer a rear wheel drive V8 sedan in 2009 so the choice was easy.

For what it is worth (not much I am sure) I owned a 09 G8 GT and now the 14 SS.
The SS (in my opinion) is a much better car. I too loved the G8 GT but now the SS really demands attention (both inside the car and outside the car).

The whole thing's just too **** shiny. It's a great candidate for a full matte-finish wrap, including the chrome, an emblem delete and a less reflective wheel package.
