Hey, how come nobody talks about the G8 Firehawk? It's supercharged and all of that. It fits in above the GXP and you could buy it at a Pontiac dealership with full warranty, witch makes it better than the upcoming Hennessy alternative SS.

Does anybody here have one?

Yours is a curious viewpoint...is the issue Hennessy or Chevrolet? G8 is not the most current generation of the Zeta chassis. The C&D review wasn't very flattering, if you bother to read it. The new SS, regardless of who does the massaging, is a greatly improved platform before any tuner gets their hands on it.

There are options other than Hennessy, too.

Callaway

SLP has yet to reveal whether they have any intentions of doing their own version of the SS.

And, with rumors that HSV may build a LHD SS (clone of their GTS), that will trump nearly anything a domestic tuner would do and warranty--Callaway comes closest, at premium pricing.

I don't know why I said "better" because, it is out of production and I did read the article after I posted the link. At that time I wanted one, bad, but I was going through the GM "crisis" then and even had to get rid of my own Hawk as well as my STS-V.

I just wondered why no one talks about them.

I think the reason it's not talked about much is, it's an after market product. It would be like talking about a Hennessy or Lingenfelter, yes they are there but still after market. I tend to give more credence to factory performance.

Many of the overpriced Firehawk builds ended up in a collector's garage. A few of the Firehawk GXP's were given to TransAm Depot for some work they did for an SLP collector. One of those GXP's ended up in the hands of Kevin Morgan, the designer behind the seventy seven TransAm inspired 5th Gen Camaro build. I just don't think enough "regular" car guys have them to see them come up in conversation given their limited availability. There are threads on other G8 oriented boards about them though if you are interested.

90% of the population doesn't even know what a G8 is. 90% of the folks that do know about the G8 don't know that a G8 Firehawk exists. So not too many folks up to speed on the G8 and it's variants which is sad.

I know this is an OLD thread, but I ran across a red G8 Firehawk on the highway near Tampa today. He punched the gas a few times on the highway, sounded great!

Didn't even know it existed. Surprised to find out it was supercharged as the last Firehawk I knew of (Trans Am) only added like 20hp.

Old indeed, but you revived good memories for me as friend & I almost worked out an exchange of my GXP +few $$s for his G8GT Firehawk #19 with the Competition Brake option and all the original Firehawk accessories.
