I am expecting delivery in a few months, and am stressing over the position and method of mounting the front license plate bracket, as the car will be registered in NJ ( front plate required).
Has anyone a photo of the SS with the front license bracket and plate attached?

Employee pricing details

The link above brings you to GM's employee pricing website. If you select the SS and 'show details' a huge list drops down. There is a bullet point that says the following about the SS features. I don't know if its only for employees for not.

Front license plate bracket Even if you don't live in a state that requires a front license plate, you can choose to display a personalized plate. Either way, this attractive bracket will hold your plate securely.

Hope the link works if not I found it in employee pricing thread. Gmautobuilder.com

Pictures. I posted some pictures that have some front plates.

Thanks for the info. Clicked on "Show Details" & definitely learned more about the car. A lot of details but didn't see a garage door remote feature listed. It'd be nice to have but clipping a remote to the sun visor works fine.

I did ask my dealer to not install the front license plate bracket, in case there's drilling involved. We do need front plates here in CA. If the bracket isn't a bolt-on, will look for an aftermarket no-drill bracket.

Below is also from "Show Details"...

"Dual-outlet stainless-steel exhaust Bright finish, dual-exhaust tips (single tip per side) look great and deliver just the right amount of throaty note and rumble to satisfy the true performance enthusiast."

A couple of other tidbits...
For some reason they don't include "Adaptive Cruise Control". Would have thought an easy add since they do have sensor for front collision warning.
The other is the blind spot warning. "Warns the driver by continually flashing the amber icon if the driver turns on the turn signal to indicate his/her intention to move into that blind zone" I have this in my car but my mine includes an audio as soon as you touch the turn signal. I think that split second makes a big difference. I still look of course!

Didn't realize some vehicles have a turn signal audio, for blind spot warning. That's got to be a really good feature & something worth having. Thanks for the info. Our 12 year old SUV came with the garage door remote feature.

this part you will love, the car will remeber how it was set up when each fob is used, so depending on who opens the car it will reset to that persons setup.

Driver memory
  • Recalls the driver's "presets" for the power driver seat and outside mirrors
  • Automatically adjusts the driver seat and mirrors to the personalized settings of up to 2 drivers
  • Allows the driver to comfortably enter the vehicle without the need to make adjustments after another person has driven the vehicle

Interesting sounds like that was sniped from Cadillac. TBH the SS is really more Cadillac than it is Chevrolet. Well at least the Chevrolet we've become used to the last 10-15 years...

Holden has used it since 06 that I know of maybe even earlier, it is on my Calais and when I use the spare key it resets to whatever it was including the radio. Headlamp delay after lock, lamp lightup on unlocking are all remembered by the car for each fob
The Calais is Holden's Buick

I don't see any reason why Chevrolet should be held back by any of GM's other brands as far as quality/perception go. Each brand should strive to be the best it can be.
I mean if Hyundai can have more upmarket offerings it is plain stupid to hold Chev or Buick back. What they need to be is the best in class.

I think the Chevrolet SS and the Impala have a good synergy at the top of the sedan offerings within the Chevrolet brand. One is performance luxury oriented with RWD and the FWD Impala is a great highway cruiser with a luxury finish in the top spec guise especially.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Impala move RWD in its next generation especially with RWD becoming popular amongst the Korean origin cars and even Toyota and I hear whispers Mazda are considering larger RWD based vehicle.

The best way to make large RWD cars relevant will be for GM to make a RWD Hybrid system or similar to get economy down s that is the only drawback for large cars at the moment.

Best way to mount the front license plate would be to order the Australian lower grille. It has a flat recessed section as we are required to have license plates country wide.
I think the front plate rule is archaic nowadays. Especially when all speed camera devices get you from behind except a laser gun patrol or the Heavy vehicle gantries.
I mean motorbikes don't have front plates ( cops do ). Just think how much money the Government could save by only needing a single plate. It's sorta like the Rego labels thing, The gov saves money by not printing Labels. just my opinion

I can't see the vic gov't agreeing to one plate, they are addicted to their cameras and the money they make, my first camera fine was a front shot.
The rear only on bikes is a no sharp objects on the front issue, if they could they would do it, we had bike riders spotting cameras in front of them and flipping them the finger while speeding.
