Here is a new wrinkle just got info for a friend.
They are shipping cars West 400 miles to Lordstown assy plant and mixing in with the assy plant cars lack of rail cars. This unit is coming to Atlanta Ga. About 800 miles from Newark they ship it West 400 miles it will take 9 days rail after it gets on railcar and 2 days from railhead in Lawrenceville Ga. The old way it took 28 days to get my car to Ga. Counting from Feb. 8th till about the 21st March that is 41 days of musical cars. The reason I say the 21st it may or may not be in Lordstown yet and will sit till they load up a train car coming this way and then they will sit at rail yard till they have a full load of railcars for the South East.
Hope everyone likes this new system my friend is getting anxious.

Leave it to GM to figure out more than one way to keep your car from generating revenue...

Hey Doug,

I would really like to look into this with my internal resources. I have not heard of this shipping pattern. Can you PM me with the VIN of the SS you are tracking?

Thanks,

Kelly, we all appreciate the effort of everyone there at CCC to help with the many issues that we raise so this comment is not directed at CCC but rather at GM management and their lack of customer friendliness:

The order tracking system as it exists is a disgrace given the technology rich age we live in. As you my know, one member here on the SSForums was actually driving his SS but the tracker still showed it to be queued for production. Then once built they are essentially "lost" until we get the call to come and lay down the cash.

With the technology that is available, one should be able to have real-time tracking except for the time spent in the middle of the Pacific ocean, and maybe even then. It is terribly disappointing that management chooses to keep the customer shut out of the purchasing loop.

OK, that's my rant for the day. As I said first, we on the forum really do appreciate what you folks at CCC do for us gearheads.

I'll have to second that.

I can sign the screen on the handheld device UPS and Fedex use for overnight deliveries and less than 5 minutes later punch up my tracking number on the internets and see it was delivered 5 minutes ago and who signed for it and even get an image of my signature.

Heck somebody is scanning and tracking the bar codes on the cars ... does that information just go into a computer black hole archived file never to be seen by human eyes?

I heard basically the same info today as well from Customer Service. My car is still sitting in Lordstown, Ohio since the beginning of the week. They state it is waiting on a rail car heading in the direction of Florida. I to am running out of patients with this. We are going on three months for this shipment.

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry for the anxiety that the shipment procedures and delays have caused. I know how excited each of you are for your SS's to arrive. With the help of one of the community members, I was able to use his VIN and track his SS. Currently the Newark SS's are going to Lordstown for distribution. They will be traveling with other Chevrolet vehicles to their respective destinations.

I do want reiterate that in the past winter conditions here and in the East have played a role in the delivery times. I work with other vehicles and have witnessed it with those as well.

I can only imagine the buildup of anticipation at this point! I can assure you that the SS's will be to the dealership soon and just in time for some spring cruising! :)

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am always here to help!
