"For BMW buyers, this (Chevy SS) might be a better place to spend their money."......

said David Leone, Executive Chief Engineer @ General Motors.

But is the Chevy SS really a better place for BMW buyers to spend their money?

For BMW enthusiasts that won't mind branching out to other cars, the SS might come up when cross-shopping. But we all know how refined BMW's are and that BMW already offers a few high performance sedan's that even a Chevrolet fanatic like myself would love to have.

I know BMW's rep. I'm an admirer of them from afar. I bought my wife a Z3 roadster for her 40th birthday. I've test driven the crap out of new ones every time I'm in the market. They are insanely expensive and their interiors just plain suck. They're not all that refined on the road either. I get that they're performance oriented and not luxury oriented, but that doesn't explain everything, Will BMW guys cross-shop the SS? Doubtful. Will the Holden be more fun to own and drive than any BMW you could get for under $50k. I guaranfuckingtee it.

Also apparently there are differences (performance) between the 2014 SS and the VF commodore. I hope we don't get the crappy end of the deal here.

Heard that too. Not sure what to make of it. Same engine but less HP can be fixed with a chip, though.

Th biggest difference between the Chevrolet SS and Commodore SS-V will (lack of a manual for you guys not withstanding) The Chev SS will have the HSV 6.2 litre whilst the Holden version will stay with the same motor it has had essentially since VE launched that is the 6 litre. With revisions that have occured to that mill over the years.

We haven't even been guaranteed paddle shifters for the auto :(

I remember reading this article awhile back saying the ls3 would indeed be in the ss-v. Has something changed?

Thirty less kw of power? That thing will never develop the 1.21 jiggawatts required for successful time travel, and it costs $10,000 more than the SS. It's like the Aussie's are getting boned up the ass without even the courtesy of a reach-around.

Sometimes not having a manual isn't all that bad. Some automatics can seems fun but not having that third pedal and the gears to move around in sucks.

Hopefully the automatic transmission SS will be fun.

We really need a manual here.

x2.

I'll give the auto a try, but chances are I'll wait 'til they hopefully come out with a manual.

Or I'll just buy a DBS. ;)
It's amazing how the automatic transmission has "evolved" over the past while. From slow shifting to very responsive shifting that creates "manual-like driving"

The FR-S and BRZ are good examples, I remember seeing all the reviewers rave about how crazy the auto trans is, and even real owners raving about it.

Can't wait!

AWD with DCT beats DCT. You guys are too funny :D

I don't think BMW drivers will cross shop. BMW drivers are loyal customers to the brand.

The new BMW interiors are a huge improvement. I wouldn't say BMW drives aren't refined. I think germans are excellent and making chassis and suspension. I just don't like the price of parts and the reliability.

Considering you have to PAY for BOTH, it's a sad life for you.

With that said, you are right,, there is nothing better than a car with DCT.
Ferrari, Bugatti, GTR, S6, etc, etc all agree with you.

A 335xi with an aftermarket ECU and full warranty would destroy a SS Sedan in every category.
The only thing the SS Sedan has left to compete is a AGGRESSIVE PRICE.
When do we get the official MSRP so I can stop checking this site ????

Fortunately for you, jerking off to the centerfold in "Corvette Monthly" magazine is still free. Next month is their famous Swimsuit Edition, featuring Dual Clutch Transmissions in revealing swimwear photographed in the world's most exotic locales. You may want to get to Costco for another tub of lotion.

You're pathetic, and that doesn't say much for the membership here.

There's nothing to be ashamed of. Masturbation is a perfectly normal sexual outlet. Just remember that, if you encounter an actual dual clutch transmission in real life, that hole is there to REFILL FLUID ONLY.
