i wanted to change of the look of the fogs on the SS because I felt that they are not only very bright, but they look horrible because they do not match.

so i am testing these out to see how they work out. so far so good! IMO a much better look and look how nice they match the DRLs!

Those look great and match up nicely. What bulb is used in the fog lights and where can you purchase them?
Fog light bulbs are H10.

as he said ^^^^ ;) but a 9005 will work too with some trimming on the bulb side.

Is it normal for both the DRL and the fogs to come on at the same time?
yes because they are not "headlamp" but DRL will turn off at night. there also seems to be no way to keep them on at night. i thought about pulling the relay but all that would be is not make the DRL work at all. i am thinking if it was rewired with some relay you could probably get them to work at anytime.

just so you guys know this is a very easy job. all you have to do is whatever side you are working on just turn your wheels inwards (oh and yes you have to start the car for this... lovely electric steering).

anyhow then remove fice T-15 screws (three on the outer fender and two below towards the bottom) that are in the inner fender well. T-15 = Torx and size bit. if you don't know what a Torx bit is maybe you shouldn't be removing it. ;) j/k. anyhow remove those and pull lightly on the bottom corner and pull up. if it does not come up easy you missed a Torx bit screw.

as soon as you lift it up you will see the fog lamp. turn it and remove the bulb. and so you guys know it is easier to remove the harness side clips by pulling up and out NOT spreading them apart (that usually brakes the clips).

this is what you should see after you pull up the inner fender liner.

also when doing this you will notice the fender liner is not plastic. it is similar to trunk carpet material. interesting. i wonder how it will hold up over time in harsh weather conditions.

Looks nice, I still think I want yellow :)
I have always been a yellow fog light person myself, but I think it will look out of place next to these super white LED DRLs. Considering the fact that somebody will eventually find a way to make these run permanently (which I will do right away) I'll be getting matching bright white fog lights.

I agree it would look weird with the DRLs on but I don't think I would mod it to keep them on so my fogs would be on with the HIDs only.

yea what bulb did you get!! spill the beans!!

and the carpet fender liner is not new. german and japanese luxury cars have been using them for years now

they add extra sound insulation and they are just as durable. they arent as easy to clean as plastic (helps if you have a pressure washer)

So what lamp did you go with?
i went with a LED i tired 7 different ones to get the best matching and brightest. most common were they were either too dull (duller then stock) and wrong color which looked green. two were too big and wouldn't fit though the hole.

either way i am going to test these out for a bit long term at least 10 hours to make sure there are no heat issues. don't want these to be like g8s and melt housings.

as soon as i can confirm these are good i will be selling these on my website site. they are actually already on my website now but i wont sell anything until i can confirm they are 100% fine.

haa haa don't own any LUXURY cars. lol! too poor! lol! ;) but i believe it. then again "holden" calls this car the most advance car ever that holden has had. funny thing is Euro and Japanese cars have had these options for years! lol!

The bright white is nice, but kinda defeats the purpose of having fogs when you really need them.
not really i am using them as driving lights to light the road in general. i drive though fog maybe 3 days out of the year IF that. plus this being a 5th car i doubt i will even be in the SS when it happens. and really, if they were real fog factory... they would come yellow. ;) "most" newer cars manufactures call them driving lights now. though the SS manual says fog still. ;)

Mav Man actually won't be selling these items just yet. He would like to get some more testing time in to ensure that they will not damage the fog light housing. Expect an email from him telling you the same thing along with some more details. ;)
