I wasn't aware of that. Is SS production coming to the states?
Some are saying that the SS will move to the Alpha. Alpha will have many drawbacks compared with the Zeta II, they both will be roughly the same weight (current expensive Alpha v Zeta II), but the Alpha will be dimensionally smaller with a much less efficient use of internal space (more cramped), the Alpha is IMO not as good or have as much potential than the Zeta II. Even the current Alpha CTS Vsport is only now knocking on the 2000 Commodore HSV GTS Nurburgring times.
My opinion on things are:
1) GM wont allow the SS to be on the same Alpha platform as the CTS. GM has already hinted that any future vehicle will be on a budget Alpha (less exotic materials than the CTS and more heavy steel). Expect any budget Alpha SS to be around the 4300+ lbs weight, not the current 3975lbs.
2) Any future SS (if any) will be built either in America or China. My bet and the word on the street is that the next Commodore will be Chinese made. So most likely the next Chevy SS (if any) will be Chinese made.
3) Most likely that GM wont build another front engine RWD affordable Chevy SS. GM typically comes out with future products long before they build it, so far we havent heard a firm word, havent seen a mule or anything. GM plans to flood Australia with its current overseas offering. Dont hold your breath on another Chevy SS in the near future.
