Like many others I have been contemplating what style exhaust tip would look best on the SS, the single round tip just looks out of place.

Down under some trims have factory dual tips seen below:

It looks pretty good, but my personal thought is that oval tips would fill the cutout perfectly on these cars. So I did a quick photoshop using a standard oval tip, and it looks phenomenal.

Another possible option that I have been considering is the Porsche dual tips where one tip is connected to the other. I cannot find a good source image to use as a base to photoshop them onto a SS yet unfortunately.

Not an SS, but here is a GTO with the Porsche tips.

Exhaust tips & bumper should be ok with a HSV sedan vin, non DOT approved tail lights could be a problem with US customs, they look good but if they (customs) find them you could lose them.

Also it's the first time I have seen the correct VX tails on a GTO, commodore tails do not have a reflector built in, they have them in the bumper,
the Berlina/Calais have the reflector in the light housing.

Did some measurements last night and it seems like oval tips are ruled out. Most oval tips are 4" wide, and to my surprise the stock SS tips are 4" - so the ovals would appear smaller than the stock tips.

Agreed...wish the SS had the same bumper and exhaust tips.
I might be in the minority here, but I prefer the SS bumper over the HSV one. I don't like how the diffuser splits in the middle of the car, I wish was one continuous diffuser. On a black car it wouldn't look too bad, but with white it really shows out.

This is the second time I've heard people talking about non DOT approved lights and problems with the US customs. In all my years in the GTO community (since 2005) I have not once heard of this being an issue, and I personally have imported two sets of HSV tail lights with zero issues.

Crazy Paul has had experience with loosing tail lights, it is a gamble customs may or may not find them, if they do bye bye lights, if they don't bad luck for them.

I work next door to a place who destroy customs seizure items and every so often they are at it with sledge hammers, most times it's music equipment.

How difficult would it be for one to do the install by themselves? Do our stock tips just pop off after loosening a clamp (not sure what kind we have)? If so, can we just slide on the new tip and use the existing clamp?

Really liking the dual outlet tips. Wish they came in polished black tho to go with my PBM...
