Not sure which route to take. Magnaflow is a 2.5" mandrel bent, non-chambered design that sounds great in the video. So far the only quote I've been able to get is $968.00 to my door. Stainless Works is a 3" mandrel bent system, with chambered mufflers that also sounds good in the video, found it for $918.00 on ColoradoSpeed.com. Flowmaster has been more difficult to gather info on, but it is a 2.5" mandrel bent "force II" system, which they tell me is a modereate sound upgrade and not too loud, which is along the lines of the others. Sometimes Flowmaster sounds good, other times not so much. The kicker is the price. Got an offer today from AutoAnything.com for the system for $619.49 delivered. Not sure what to do. Magnaflow sounds great, not chambered. Stainless Works sounds good, 3" system, but chambered so probably flows similarly to the Magnaflow. Flowmaster is the darkhorse at under $620, but no sound clip, not sure on resonators or which series mufflers, or oval shaped exhaust tips. I know where pigman440 and Maverick Man stand on the subject, how about everyone else?

What about Borla? I was looking at videos of the Camaro SS with the Borla Atak exhaust (figured since the gnome is the same the sound should be close) I liked how aggressive it is on the outside but can't find any good info how quiet it is on the inside during regular driving.

Flowmaster listed as 409 stainless while Stainless Works lists as 304 stainless. I believe Magnaflow is 409 as well but I am not certain. You usually get what you pay for, and I've had both Magnaflow and Flowmaster in the past with good luck and good sound from both, but I'm not sure about the black mufflers with polished tips from Flowmaster. Not sure about the oval tips either, seems Infinity or Lexus or something to me. Think it comes down to the other two, I better start saving...

I had the Corsa sport on my Callaway. It was supposed to be the louder of the Corsa systems, but was pretty tame.

I like the looks and sounds of Magnaflow and would like to go that route. However, due to the design of the SS exhaust system I am starting to lean towards the SW exhaust since they are also developing headers/mid-pipes so it is a guaranteed connection to their cat-back.

There aren't many pictures of the Stainless Works exhaust posted, but I really like the look of the Magnaflow a lot. Based on what I see in the SW videos I strongly prefer the look of the Magnaflow setup. Flowmaster is out of the question because they are known for shoddy quality piping, and usually not the best sound.

I am curious as to whether other companies such as Corsa and Borla will step up and offer components for the SS. The thing that sucks about having the car while it is still fresh on the market is the anticipation for aftermarket support. It would suck to buy an exhaust from Company X now and a nicer system comes along from Company Y a few months down the road.

Thanks Boosted. Now I'm even more confused. Interesting pinstripes over roofline onto trunk. Any idea where they go going forward?

I usually love magnaflow, and it's hard to beat the price of Magnaflow exhausts using websites like hottexhaust w/ 15% off coupon codes.

But after hearing that video clip of their setup for this car - Meh. Doesn't sound as exciting as the stock H pipe. An X pipe just doesn't sound as good on this car IMO.

The Stainless Works one sounds good, but again, it doesn't sound much better then stock.

Frankly, the stock exhaust on this car is obviously an area GM spent some time on and it's pretty hard to beat.

That's why I was thinking headers only. You can always add bigger tips for the look

I can honestly say that Stainless Works Catback is head and shoulders above the stock catback. Listening to the sound clips doesnt really do it justice. I have thier system on my car currently and am pleased with the sound. The stystem does sound badass once you get it on and adjusted properly. It is a bit of a pain to install since it is a clamp together system. If you arent real skilled at installing stuff yourself I would say spend the extra to have an exhaust shop install the system and save yourself the headache. I will be installing their header system soon and cant wait to hear the sound of it along with the catback. A huge reason I did not go with Magnaflow is largely due to having to cut the factory pipe to install as well as the fact that the Magnaflow is 2.5" system and not a 3" like the SW system. If I were to do it all over again I think I would have ordered the SW factory connect system and kept my factory mufflers for a "stock" look and had the improved flow of headers and high flow cats. Plus save about 6 bills.

SS Mufflers

just picked up my SS on July 4th and have been researching changing just the mufflers. The stock sound fairly good but to me they ae too sharp. I prefer a deep mellow sound. I had Flowmasters on my '06 SS and they sounded great. I am going to try the similar Flowmasters on the SS on Saturday (if the shop gets them in).

I have the Kooks on my car. Its the complete system. Go to PCM of North Carolina on You Tube and you can hear the exhaust while they do my dyno runs. Everyone likes a specific sound so this is just another comparison. They sure were good to work with.
