All...Looking for some ideas and/or suppliers of Euro tail lights for the SS...When I owned the 96' Corvette GS, I had Euro Tail lights and it really looked cool and different...They were much brighter during the day and night...I want these to fit and look right also...Any info greatly appreciated...

Yes, the Caprice PPV has all red tail lights by design. The place where the amber turn signal should be is blank and it commonly used after market by police equipment installers for strobes or LED lights.

I personally do not like all red tail lights, I think amber should be a required colour on all US vehicles.

Don't you already have amber indicators all round, as far as I know only the caprice PPV has red tail indicators.
The SS has Amber front and side markers but all RED on the tail lights w/white back up lights...No Amber in rear tail lights...It seems GM saving money!

I read on a new caprice thread about a tow hitch that their is an adaptor to convert from US to Euro for a 7 pin trailer, this could be used to power the amber globe

Wow, and I thought I was the only one in the US that thought this! Nice to see someone agrees. It's way more visible to have amber turn signals to see peoples' intention to turn, change lanes, or when they have their hazards on.

If I had an SS i'd like to get a red hot 2 one and order HSV tail lights off the GTS :)

So true...like my earlier post regarding my 96' Corvette GS...When I installed even law enforcement thought that was a great idea...Go figure that one huh! I'm not aure the G8 will work as the design is somewhat different...these are two pieces and the G8 (I believe) is only one? Maybe the Aussies will direct me?

The VE (non Calais) tail will fit a G8 but the VF Gen-F GTS will require a new bumper to fit an SS, which is not available to non owners without a genuine HSV vin number, Pontiac where happy with the euro lights, didn't know about the SS lights being all red

I see amber in my rear taillights, hard to tell by looking at it, looks all red, but when the signal lights come on for locking/unlocking you can see they're amber back there.

Yep...My bad...for the first time tonight happen to be walking from the back of the car and did see the "small" amber bulb light up when locking/unlocking the car...So I then started the car and saw the turns signals are also amber...

Off topic, but I feel that the newer model F-150's taillights have that "aftermarket" look, but not in a good way. Actually Ford did it to a lot of their vehicles and blah!

On topic. The Vauxhall VXR-8 taillights are SWEET!

I know that's supposed to be true, but I owned a G8 and there were at least two vendors (JHP and Crazy Paul) that were offering genuine HSV conversions (i.e. front bumpers, fenders, hood, wheels).

Yes, the HSV Gen-F taillights won't fit the SS without changing the rear bumper, but since Crazy Paul is a member here, it might be worth a shot to find out what it would cost. Expensive, I'm sure, but it does look sweet! LED taillights, too!

YES, YES and YES...This look is awesome and our SS should have already come this way from Holden...Chevy seems to always be somewhat plain...

As a side note, those types of taillights were called Altezza lights for a long time, because they were inspired by the oem taillights on the Toyota Altezza (Lexus IS300), which is obviously Japanese.

Funny thing is, now you see on eBay and such, these types of lights (chrome housings, clear lens) referred to as Euro lights, when the origin was Japan. I guess anything foreign is considered Euro, lol!

One thing you have to keep in mind is that tail lights have to be DOT approved and importing them from Australia they would not have the DOT stamp. So they would be illegal, even if they are approved in Australia if not DOT stamped/approved.

I believe that CP has had issues with importing them and does not, but I could be wrong. If you do happen to get them here you run the risk of a smart cop seeing they are not DOT approved and cite you to remove them. That would be very expensive and may not be worth the risk.

Just trying to help, but as much as I would love the Caprice LED tail lights on mine, the risk is too high for the cost.
