To diagnose this is just so basic and simple stupid. Start at the easy, eliminate going to the more complex. This is the basics of ANY diagnostic procedure.

Recapping:

Dealer removed transmission and replaced clutch.

Owner DIY replaced shifter.

Diagnosis:

1- Put car in air. Visually inspect and tap, bang, wiggle all the many heat shields and anything that could have been R+Red, touched or banged into during the above. Even what you think as "stupid" or "not applicable". Potential for success = high.

2- Check shifter instal as above including fasteners. Potential for success = high.

3- Then and only then delve into the clutch replacement possibilities of loose fasteners and/or improper installation.

Anybody ever see a diagnostic flow chart ??? You start with the easy most likely flowing down to the hard least likely.

I am sick seeing everyone ignoring the easy basics going straight to the hardest least likely 'I got a bad ______" when after wiping the egg off their faces it was a simple nothing issue.

Simply inquiring if anyone has experienced the same issue or has any constructive feedback.

I searched and couldn't find anything.

I noted twice that the noise was there before the shifter install.

I don't have a lift or a garage.

Thank you for the input.
On an untouched car asking would be valid and appropriate.

With the clutch and shifter; not so. Completely different picture to diagnose X2.

But asking is free.

Respectful, no argument was made. Calling the post's validity into question doesn't make sense.

X3: noise was there prior to the MGW.

On the topic of appropriateness, no need for the insinuations and negativity.

Again, thank you for your input!
But after the clutch was replaced by your own admission from the moment you picked it up and you drove away.

I just can't wait 'till all this guessing is over and we get a report after a professional live and in person diagnosis/repair is completed.

It needs to go to a good dealer and be diagnosed.

Anything else here is just bantering and a waste of time given the circumstances.
