I do like hearing you can turn it off. I keep mine on with my FX along with lane departure and forward collision. Might save my life one day.I leave mine on unless I want to have some fun. Using the competitive mode is a good mix (double click the traction control button). Burnouts are down by holding the button for 5 seconds to remove all systems.
Overall it is a nice system for any scenario.

I know that unnerving feeling, and too often, it's like the car has no brakes as you glide through the intersection. So far, knock on wood, I've been lucky no one was coming. My experiences have been double the stopping distance on snow and three times on ice.Iowa winters would also like an on/off switch for this feature. It would be nice if it just came on above 20mph or something. I "plowed" like you for many years to stop, sometimes that was the best, most effective means of stopping. Now when the pedal pushes back and you keep going it is not only unnerving but also gives you(at least me) a sense of panic because I am now officially not in control of my own car, a computer is.
Bringing up an old thread here instead of making a new one. When stability control is turned off, why does the steering get so tight? Its like a third of the power steering is gone. Is this right?
Cool thanks! Its the same feeling with everything off or just tapping T/C twice. I just wanted to make sure it was supposed to be tighter. I figured everything was fine since when you turn everything back on, steering is normal again. just wanted to be sureI haven't tried turning everything off yet, by holding down the T/C button to say. But if you push the T/C button twice and put it in Comp mode, the wheel is programmed to be tighter.
Yea, i've already had it get squirrely but did it on purpose when nobody was around to see how easy it was to control. Now that its cold, better to have it on since these stock tires spin veey easy nowOne click down Thursday and made left turn and got on it went squirrely on me. So leave on unless in straight line. Yes I turn all off 2 clicks to get on it hard but be aware of your surroundings when doing this. Friend took his of on Zr1 caught a telephone pole with both ends.

Ah, back to winter, summer has faded. Had to drive the winter car to work twice this week because the temperatures were in the low 30's. News showed which ski area's are already open and which ones are scrambling to open as soon as they can. Next 3 days should be close to 40 when I leave the house, the SS's day's are numbered.Bringing up an old thread here instead of making a new one.
