Here is something I found out about a month ago when I took off the SS badge from my car. The white background is actually a vinyl overlay that can be peeled off, when removed there is a black metallic like color underneath that looks killer.

For those who aren't doing the Holden conversion this is a good alternative since the black lettering and chrome border really pops due to the contrast. I kinda wish I had found this out before taking the badge off the car since I'm curious how it would have looked.

Those who do this mod should post up some pictures in this thread. :)

I got the SSV badge from CP I am going to try! Didn't realize there is an overlay?
Using a toothpick to pick at one of the corners/edges will help in removing the overlay.

Hey Boosted...Tried using an Exact o knife but the over lay was quite sticky and would not come off..The corner looked horrible so I will wait to install the SS emblem from Crazy Paul when arrives..

Any pics? I'm too scared to try mine without having an idea of how it will look :D
Quick pictures of the badge I just took. Ignore the red goop, I was bored and found a can of *gasp* red Plastidip to see how the badge looked in red.

Weird, mine came off no problem. It actually peeled off completely as the S, just slightly stretched.

I haven't tried it yet, but if it is like any other vinyl sticker, apply heat. A blow dryer should free it up.

OK that is awesome. I will try it out now.
Can't wait to see how it looks on the car. With a PBM car it'll look like the chrome badge is just floating.

In retrospect I believe the reason mine came off so easily is because it may have still been warm from the heat I used to take the badge off the car.

Yep maybe the heat of the day will help me! It was rather breezy yesterday and rainy today so will wait and try again when it warms up...They actually look cool and will look good for those of us that have the PBM color...Thanks!

Your badge was chrome underneath? That's interesting. Maybe the white vinyl was an afterthought since there were badges with different background colors...

I still think red vinyl would have made more sense since on the interior all the SS logos are red.

Yes I agree with the RED vinyl since interior has the RED SS..Also, yes my trunk SS is completely Chrome..Now you kinda need to really look for the logo now that the white has been removed..

I'm still looking forward to receiving the AUSSIE SS logo along with interior Aussie SS Sill plates...Defin needs to be warm to install these items!

I put a little heat on it with a heat gun and the sticker came right off.. Mine is chrome underneath not black. Looks very good.

I'm starting to think that the badge has two overlays on it, white then black. Maybe it is possible that you guys have removed both stickers to reveal the raw badge.

All..I've removed the regular SS emblem and installed the Aussie "SS" trunk emblem & interior SS Sill plates purchased from CP..The dealership really likes them and wonder why the car doesn't come from factory with the style of the Aussie emblem and interior sill plates..

I did this and one side went well as I had a black color underneath.. Trying to get the other S done and the black I find is also an overlay and both came off...Down to chrome on one side for now...I have a body shop guy that can paint it red...So may try that.. If you want the black then just be way careful taking the white off and hope that it can stand a power wash...LOL
