With the new Chevy SS sedan I believe it's the perfect time for Chevrolet, Holden or even Pontiac to add a coupe version.

Renderings of how a SS Coupe, Caprice Coupe, VF Monaro or new Pontiac GTO coupe may look:

That appears to have a much better interior and visibility than the Camaro.
I prefer the exterior to the Camaro as well.

But, to be frank, coupes built on sedan platforms just to "look" like coupes are just plain stupid to me.
If you want a coupe, buy a coupe. (Corvette)

I think the point is that this SHOULD have been the Camaro.

I LOVE the 1969 Camaro look, along with everyone else.
But, the interior space and visibility on the current Camaro is horrendous and the interior in general is horrible.

This was what GTO owners were hoping for when the G8 launched, as it would be the logical successor to the Goat as a coupe. It doesn't really fit in the Chevy line up with the Camaro already in there. I think a VF based coupe would be a much nicer looking car than a Camaro, but Chevy saw the great run Ford was having with a retro muscle car and couldn't resist, especially after the GTO goi panned for not looking at all like a '67 Tempest or The Judge.

It'll never happen, but the Monte Carlo was positioned as a high end two door...

True. They end up looking too long in the quarter panels, especially between the C pillar and the wheel arch.

Yeah, that was exactly the car I was talking about. I never cared for the look of the GTO in profile for that reason. But because of the stretched quarters there were two actual normal full sized seats in the rear and decent leg room.
