the corvette use's valve covers only not whole top cover they are held on by studs with round ends that screw in to valve cover that has the coil packs in place.

you can screw those ball studs into the current SS valve covers though. they have the provisions. but the problem it seems would be fuel line. it is different then the corvette... well depending on what cover you use from which corvette. ;)

Engine Cover

The first thing I want to change when my new car comes in is the engine cover. Why isn't there a cool cover like the GTO had? I would like to see something simple, just black with silver SS emblems on it, maybe 6.2L. The engine compartment isn't a sleeper. It is just plain boring bordering on ugly IMO.

I have Roto-fab's covers on my Camaro. Maybe they'll work for the SS or they can tweak them to work. They make a great product. The engine cover on my Camaro was one of the first things I changed, not sure why you'd want it on the SS. Guess its a small improvement over stock.

Checked my buddy's Camaro SS and his cover does look different. I stopped at the service dept at my Chevy dealer and had them check the part numbers and they are indeed different. I was hoping to buy one inexpensively, custom paint it and test how it would hold up. Plan B is now in order.

Did anyone ever figure out if the LS3 Camaro engine cover would fit the SS?

I'm still watching for a decent priced set of C6 coil covers to mod and put on my car.

I gotta say, with the price of engine covers out there, I'm planning on doing like the dude on here that just took a 150-dollar set of Holley LS3 valve covers and painted them bright red.

It looks as good as any cover, and I'm generally opposed to engine covers, but I can see why they're so popular from a design standpoint. You can make an engine as functional and efficient as possible with no regard to aesthetic at all, and just slap some plastic on it.

I miss the days of engine-as-art pieces, and today it seems only the exotics are doing that. I mean, check this out:

Tell me those intake runners aren't supposed to look like the legs of a beautiful woman in red spandex….

Or maybe I have a paraphilia.

Whatever.

There is nothing wrong with removing it. I've had mine off since I got the car. Its just for looks. I'd rather see the engine than plastic.

Now when Roto-Fab comes out with their covers, I might be saying something different because they look pretty good. Not just a black plastic cover
