Cold air Intake

Got tired of waiting for K&N and Rotofab to come out with intakes so I just installed the VCM performance intake with K&N filter included. Sounds badass and no highway drone. On line instructions were for a
G8 but was able to decipher. All brackets worked eventually.

I hadn't seen this induction system....looks cool. Cost?

My only concern is where the air comes in. Just going off what I've seen (pic's online) it looks like the ROTO might get more air.

I'd be interested to see a comparison between the ROTO and this VCM on HP increase.

We have done just this in the past on the G8. The OEM location style intakes (like the roto-fab) have always made more power as they do just that, flow more air due to the much larger filter. on a basically stock car you won't notice too much difference between the two, but start adding some serious mods and the OTR style intakes cannot keep up.

OK, so far after 2000 miles no check engine codes. Will try to get some video/sound. Drove in snow and rain and am concerned about water entering the intake but so far no issue with that. I searched for the Roto Fab model but it looked like it wasn't available yet. This unit has a pretty big, flat K&N filter in it and the opening is wide open to the throttle body so I have to see how Roto model can get more air in. If anything the VCM is too open to the elements.

The name of the game is surface area when it comes to filters and flow. Also, there the longer tube of the rotofab actually allows the air to straighten out for more velocity going into the engine. Definitely fix that vacuum leak on it though. It can still be 10% off and not throw a code, but it's still 10% off because of the leak.
