Very pleased with the outcome and cost less then $100 in materials. Still need to do a clean up of the over-spray. All over-spray peels or rubs away easily. Plasti Dip is an amazing product.

I like factory chrome on a black car - that's just me. So that comes off easily on any part you want?

Thanks. It does look a little sinister. I like chrome with black as well, kinda why I went with black, but just felt it was too much on such a sporty car. Started to delete some, and ended up doing all because thought it just suited the car better. I am not a fan of all black, so went with dark metallic. I think looks so good in person.

I have never worked with an easier, and more forgiving product. Did the whole car with everything on. Probably took me about 4 hours to do everything, and that is waiting for coats to dry. Any over-spray can literally be peeled off if a thick coat, rubbed off with your finger, or by using a goo off type product. The emblems I taped 1" around and shot the whole area with 4 coats. Once done just peeled of the strip around the logo as easy as the tape, and because of the gap behind the emblem, the edges are perfect. Looks like a professional job by an amateur.

Very clean job!

Dipping interrogatives? Check out dipyourcar.com. Lots of great info there.
I just did the wheels on my sons Suby. One side black, the other side anthracite (to see which looked better). Might try some gold metalizer on them too.

Check out this dip job:

Sucks to keep clean

I have used plasti dip in both black and white. Overall an easy product to use. However it sucks to keep clean. The power greed degreaser works best but still sucks. However for the price it is a fun option.

It has been holding out well. I often use the gas station brushless washes, and they do not seem to be bothering or peeling it. A few spots need touch up, but they are areas that were either nicked, or not done right to begin with. I was told it is very easy to touch up. Just apply a little by hand to melt the edge and make it smooth, then spray a few more coats in the area. If you have a nice thick coat with no imperfections, you should be good for a long time.

amss,

Could you get a close up of the handles? That is the last piece of chrome I have to get rid of, but i was a little bit hesitant about using black Plasti-Dip on a black car.

Great looking ride!

Thanks.

I used black car wrap for the handles. Did not think Plast-Dip would work as well for that area. You can only tell it is a wrap upon close inspection. I did not cut around the buttons, just used a credit card to make a groove. Looks cleaner that way, and the buttons still work. I cut around the keyhole on the drivers door, but think I might redo and leave it covered as it is never used. Will take pics tomorrow.
