Hopefully it will be less than that, 1 year after the original on-sale date seems to be the industry norm for manual transmission releases from what I've seen.Probably Within a year or 2 based on GM's history.
But, I wouldn't hold my breath.
New Camaro and Mustang soon, so you might have to go there.
Both will be worth the wait.
Highly doubtful. GM history = 2004-2006 GTO on shortened version of this platform then fall asleep for two years prior to G8, 2008-2009 G8 then fall asleep for 5 years before the 2014 SS all pretty much on the same platform. And this is from a place where the Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said "the G8 is too good a car to waste"..... doubt we'll ever see anything as cool as an SS coupe plus it would compete with the Camaro and that brand team would be vocal to GM brass about that! Thanks for the answers.
The Camaro and Mustang GT, are the other cars on my short list. It's going to be a touch choice.
Here's my follow up question.
Will there be a coupe version?
In my eyes, the Camaro is basically a Chevrolet SS coupe, and definitely far from a modern day four-door corvette (as GM liked to call it).Highly doubtful. True performance cars with manual transmissions sell well.Maybe GM figured auto would sell better for the first few years? Truth is manual transmission sedans do not sell that well if there is an automatic option.
Pontiac needs something better going on? What do they have going on?In my eyes, the Camaro is basically a Chevrolet SS coupe, and definitely far from a modern day four-door corvette (as GM liked to call it).
A real SS coupe would be cool to bring back the GTO, but I think the Camaro is good enough, though Pontiac does need something better going on, on their side.
So maybe a 2015 Pontiac GTO will be possible? Who knows....
I agree a manual would be nice...however I wouldnt buy one. I've owned a few manual trans cars in my time and driving them in traffic (which I deal with) is tiresome. I much prefer auto with paddle shifters. With that said I certainly see the attraction to a manual and feel it should be available in any performance car.
I'm confident the car will have a manual trans for 2015 MY; that said I just bought a used G8 GXP M6 to tide me over until GM gets it right.........I remember hearing the manual is supposed to come out a year after launch. But I can't find the source now. I think it might just be pure speculation at this point.
