Maybe this one has popped up, maybe not. But I see on the online ordering guide that a spare will now be included in place of the inflator. I will try to include the link.

SS spare

In the list of equipment for the car, it says for Spare Tire, "A" which means Available. Available means for an extra charge, Which GM is charging $500 for. Recheck my facts. I think they're accurate.

First thing I bought for my G8 GT was a spare tire kit. Yes I've had to use it as well. The puncture was nearly on the sidewall and could not be plugged/patched. A spare is there for ALL types of flats. Glad to see it will at least be an option if Bob is correct.

I fritzed a rear tire early in the life of my first G8 GXP and had to use the inflator and goop. The tire was no longer usable due to the sidewall damage but goop and inflator got me home then up to Discount Tire to get a new one. Was surprised as the hole was big enough the goop leaked out while driving and gave me a nice stripe inside the wheel well. I can live without the weight in the trunk but also keep my AAA membership active....

I can tell you that Road Side Assistance (RSA) is nice and a Tire Inflator/patch kit is handy but neither are as good as an actual spare tire.

There are many scenarios where a full spare (or even a doughnut spare) is far superior to RSA or Tire Inflator/patch kit.

If you're worried about the weight and want to play around with street racing or at a strip then pull the spare out of the trunk for that event.

spare. road side. tire kit.

all work.

personally I go with road side. it's just easier for me. they tow it wherever I want.

I usually take the spare out just because its so dam heavy.

No I don't street race. I just figure why not since I'm not going to use it.

Until the following occurs:
- you can't reach them because you have no cell service (or no cell phone)
- you reach them but they can't get to you in a resonable amount of time
- you reach them but the cost is astronomical
- you reach them, they show, and proceed to phuck up your vehicle

if you have no cell service then you either have a phone plan by a really crappy service provider or are out somewhere far out from the city and suburbs and should in that case have a spare. plus who doesn't have a cell phone these days?

unfortunately them not getting to you in a reasonable amount of time is what happens at times, once i had to wait 2 hours :smileyPC:

if you're on a roadside assistance membership plan you don't have to pay anything unless you request something be done outside of the plan you paid for.

I heard horror stories about that, usually I request to get a flatbed just to lessen the f*ck up's
