Now we can track the ship and see how long the ocean voyage takes. According to Marine traffic she's heading back down around Victoria then up the east coast of Australia for Japan and is doing nerly 20 knots (37kph for us Aussies or 22.5 mph for you guys.) Thats not bad for a big ship.
I'd love to know the top speed I reckon it'd go around 25 knots and the calmer the ocean the more it can sit at top speed.

Where is that boat stopping? Now we need someone over here to wait for it and take pictures of it arriving :D
I will try to be near the docks in Benicia, CA. when it arrives. Once again the Port authorities balked at the idea of me gaining a security clearance to go down to the docks. They told me yesterday again that the procedure is costly and time consuming, but could not tell me how much or how long. And they said it is too soon to know of any ETA for the ship. This all sounds like a big cover-up to me!! "Let's surprise 'em!!" kind of thing. B.S.

This is awesome. How crazy are we that we have guys photographing a cargo ship on one side of the Pacific and somebody waiting on the other side to watch these cars come and go?

Thanks guys for following these cars so closely. Can't wait to get mine.

It is nut to be honesty :) I have never been so interested in a car that I can't buy ( unless I move stateside) But will be ordering an SSV late next year.

I also thought that if I can help in anyway to find when the cars get floating it would create a bit more buzz on your end as you know they are definitely on there way. a second shipment should leave probably toward the end of October I reckon.

It was also cool seeing how massive these ships are. The Durban Highway is 199 metres (653 feet approx)long and 32 (104 approx) metres wide

It truly is awesome that we have all our friends in Australia helping us stateside with our passion to get our very high quality built Chevy SS's. I thank all of them!!! Commodoreman, our outside guy, and Asylum, our inside guy, Wow, Thanks, and thanks again!!! And to all of our other friends from Oz, Thank you as well!! Now to the incoming pictures. I am real sure that I can get close to the docks at Benicia without raising a national security issue. I think I can get as close as Commodoreman did at the Outer Harbor. I am preparing a survival kit just in case. LOL.

Knowing how America is right now, just try not to get shot trying to snap some shots of the cars arriving Lol. Seems like Cops everywhere are more tigger happy than ever.

How far away are you from the docks? You might want to visit the docks just to get an idea of what you need to work with to get the shots needed, even getting to know the people their.

just get a high powered telescoping lens in the name of national security. Just careful when you tell them your here for the SS.

there was a particularly terrorizing group of individuals went by the moniker SS

My view is that if they can clearly be seen from outside the fence like a car park or what ever and it is free game. unless of course it is a sensitive installation or top secret.

In which case you shouldn't be able to see anything full stop. Although going by what we hear here it might be a bit too hard. Our port had all this CCTV stuff and a security guard did give me a bit of a look see then kept on driving around the perimeter with not a word.

I have been on "Bayshore Road" in Benicia before. This road takes you right down almost to the water and in front of the docks. I am going to make a "dry run" of it soon with camera in hand and a ladder in my "urban assault vehicle"(suburban). I will go to the Port office (about a mile away)to introduce myself and hopefully talk to and convince the young lady, yes, young lady, in charge of GM vehicle imports to allow me closer, maybe escorted access to the actual docks. We know that all available SS's were shipped, but how many???
