Chevrolet SS Dealer Allocation Numbers

After several e-mails to the general manager and to my salesman over the holiday I got a phone call about twenty minutes ago. My G.M. at Dublin Chevrolet/Cadillac/ in Dublin, CA. said there is no update on the build stats of my SS. He stated the dealership, being as large as it is, and the number of performance oriented cars they sell, they only received an "allocation" for 3 SS's. One black one for the dealership, one white one for a customer and my silver one. This dealership has two other stores in the neighboring cities. And only a 3 car allocation!!! Total. Looks to be very limited to me.

They've definitely built Silver as I saw some at Outer Harbour. I was told the most common colours for SS down the line has been Black, Red and Silver. To date

Found this over at GMInsidenews.com. Article says not to expect to December and very low allocations only about 1 in 3 delearships will get one on the first shipment.

This just took the wind out of my sails. Maybe when Commodoreman saw all the hoods up out at the harbor they were disconnecting the batteries!!! Oh, crap. That is all I can say. If GM estimates the journey to the States takes two to two and a half months they need to put BOTH oars in the water!!!

Yeah, I don't foresee it doing very well if there's a 5 month wait, AND the dealers may not get an allocation AND there's no wiggle room on the price. That's not how traditional Chevy/GM buyers are used to doing things.
Then again, it does seem like they've set their expectations pretty low with 1,500-2,000 units per year so maybe it'll do well enough to fill out a niche for itself.

The first shipment arrives October can you say Halloween and it will be another 2 weeks mid Nov before dealer has cars. They should be on board ship by Sept. 17 the way I count. That's 6 months from order to delivery of car. This almost reminds me of the GTO I order and never received they promoted the GTO and lost sales because of no delivery. The G8Gt was not promoted and no one knew about the car I stumbled on the car by accident bought one and loved it till it was wrecked my a foreign national.

The boat ride only takes 4 weeks. 5 weeks if weather is really bad. That's what I've been told as far as time to reach US waters.

Exactly what I heard from my dealer also
Here in Vegas, one of the largest Chevy dealers in the southwest region is also only getting 3 initial SS. One of them is the color I want but the fact that most dealers are only getting 3 means Chevy is doing what Apple does with its iPhones at launch; limiting the production to always keep demand high ;(
They better not hold back too much because there are several other good choices out there and my patience is not unlimited!

My local Dealership got a allocation a few weeks ago. And it is a very small Dealership. I was going to take the order slot, but since there is not many options on the car, I'm going to wait and try to get a better deal on a Dealer stock car. I have a C7 ordered with him at a little over invoice, and I didn't want to press my luck.
