The Chevy SS will have MyLink displayed on its seven-inch touchscreen display much like every other new Chevrolet vehicle out these days but how good is when compared to infotainment systems from other car makers? Looking for user "reviews" of MyLink from people that have actually used it.

I know MyLink isn't perfect, apparently BMW's iDrive is the best of the best, but if you had to suggest things to be improved on MyLink what would they be?

Well after using the Chevy mylink it's rather good. Only complaint is it's missing the Parkin lines as discussed in another post. I also wonder how map update will happen, or how easy they will be, or how often Chevy will put them out.

Well there is a website you go to for maps. I will need to go look for the URL. Downloads to a USB drive for easy updates.

I really like the MyLink except for the voice commanded navigation. To me it's pretty hard to find places I want to go to. The easiest way for me is to use the OnStar App from my iphone to find a POI that way, and then send it to the car.

Maybe there is a way to do this and I just haven't found it, but when it comes to playing MP3's off the USB port, I would like to just play from the first folder to the last. I don't want to select a genre or artist or any of that fancy stuff. I just want to say play and have it work its way through all the songs.

Is there a way to do that or have I found a limitation of the My Link system?

The other issue that can be very frustrating is the voice recognition. I'm not sure if its my Aussie accent, but I have a very frustrating relationship with that women in the car. We don't seem to be on speaking terms a lot of the time.;)

From the owners manual it sounds like you sound be able to select "Song Titles" which in my experience on other systems would play all songs contained in all folders.
OWNERS MANUAL says...
Press b / g on the steering
wheel controls to select songs
by Artist, Album, Song Title,
or Song Genre. See Voice
Recognition on page 7-68.

I was told by Customer rep that map updates can be done by the dealer (didn't ask about cost) and that there is no CD for the Nav system. If your on good terms with dealer they may show you how they do updates, via USB port I believe

Thanks Diehard. I will give that a go.

Maybe I am missing something, but my peeve with the MyLink system is that the radio needs to be on for the navigation to be on. I can't find a way to have the navigation on without radio/xm/cd playing - so I find myself leaving it on FM and volume 0 when I just want to cruise around with the map on my screen.

What's wrong with zero volume? Just put the map on and in "all it's glory" and you won't see what station you are on.

Unlike the old style equipment this is a single head unit. This the always on. It's like a background process on a computer. :) new age

I agree. there should be no reason to have to have the radio on when you want navigation. Other cars don't need the radio on.
I am not sure of other cars, every integrated nav I have used is like this one. They have all been GMs though. Mute Audio works too :)
