I’m sure you’ve heard NASCAR talk about the “Gen 6” car. The Gen 6 car is newest generation car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The cars all have a closer resemblance to the car the manufacture puts on the street.

The Chevrolet SS is more special than other cars because Chevy decided to go with a model that was only a concept car when the project began. The new NASCAR racecar resembles the all-new rear wheel drive V-8 Chevrolet SS performance sedan that will be unveiled at Daytona during 2013 Speedweeks. The first real wheel drive, V-8 sedan for Chevrolet in 16 years.

NASCAR has talked up the Gen 6 car since it was announced they would be going to the new car. Tuesday night Chevrolet got the chance to let the media know why the Chevrolet SS is so great.

First they are excited about the brand identity it will bring back. With the car of tomorrow all of the cars looked the same except for the manufacture’s logo and name on the car. The Chevy SS has distinct lines
down both sides of the car, with vents (non-functioning on the racecar) just behind the front wheels, and a new grill opening that is unmistakably characterized as a Chevy product.

“We are looking forward to another exciting year of NASCAR competition and expect that the new SS race car, with some of the most skilled drivers on the circuit behind the wheel, will distinguish itself on the
track,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports.

Five-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson had nothing but praise for the new car.

“This week we have heard several drivers talk about how excited they are to be associated with the Chevy brand and a part of the 702 wins Chevy has in NASCAR,” Jimmie Johnson said. “It’s been a huge effort, and the times that I have driven the 2013 Chevrolet SS race car, I’ve been very impressed. I’m excited for Chevrolet, and really for all the manufacturers to have such a cool looking racecar. The cars look sharp; they look good; I think the fans are going to be excited to go to the showrooms and buy these vehicles. We have been able to work on them from an aero balance. I know that my friends at Chevrolet are awfully smart, and are going to give me a great car to go race with.”

With NASCAR racing behind the SS and this sedan being more than just some fast 4 door, there's a ton to be excited about with the SS.

You got that right. Chevrolet fans have something to be excited about that my wife will actually let me buy! :D
Once it has the space to haul the kids around, any wife will be happy. Just make sure she doesn't make you get an automatic transmission chevy ss. Manual all the way!
