Drove it with 3 full-size adults and a baby. (4 adults, 1 baby).
Didn't really run it hard because the passengers were my inlaws haha. However, acceleration and performance didn't seem as affected as they do in regular sedans. MPG was identical to no passengers, which was nice. Scraping was a concern but didn't happen, even over bumpy roads.

Air shocks are shown in the accesory manual. Don't ask me for details, I was just thumbing thought it and saw it and knew I would need them.

since most people drive solo, i don't think this will be an issue...i have had 3-4 adults in mine with no issues with headlight aim or performance...i carpool and drive 50 miles one way to work with two-three adults in the car with absolutely no issues with anything...this is down two lane, four lane, rural country roads, roads with speed humps...the car is extraordinary...

It sounds like headlight aim will be an issue.

It was on my 96 Impala SS until I put air bags inside the rear springs.

That is not possible on the SS.
I've had 3 Cadillacs that had auto-air shocks in the rear, I really liked it as you never gave it a second thought. My V didn't have them but it wasn't too bad without them since the suspension was kinda stiff. My Q45 does not have them and it does sag in the rear with 2 people in the back(seat, not trunk), the headlights have an adjustment inside the car to bring them back down. Its suspension is pretty soft. I would think the SS would be more like my V was.

If anyone decides the load the car with 4-5 people and baggage for a trip, and drives it at night please post the results.

The G8 had a problem with this if you believe the Grrr8 forum.

I have searched the net and cannot find air shocks for the SS.

Check the sticker for the GVWR total and front/rear axle ratings remembering the vehicle weighs 4000 pounds @ 52% front 48% rear. 4-5 people and a trunk full of stuff are pushing the maximum vehicle load rating (1181 pounds) and if you calculate the rear axle loading bias (everything behind the center line of the wheelbase to the axle centerline plus the axle centerline to rear end of vehicle ie: the trunk) that load goes to the rear suspension putting the rear suspension probably at its maximum load limit (~850 pounds) or maybe over it if you are very heavy in the trunk so of course it's butt is going to sag and it's nose is going to lift!

Just because its big and comfy inside for 5 adults and has a huge trunk doesn't make it a Wagon Queen Family Truckster!

Realistically speaking it is going to be a while until a shock manufacturer/supplier physically gets hold of an SS or the rear shocks and the full specs for them to see what physically fits and has comparable compression/rebound numbers and validate them with the Stabilitrack and airbag firing algorithms as it is a safety item. Ask any Camaro guy that has done donuts or drifted and had his side airbags fire because the computer thought a roll over was imminent and you will know what I mean about validating potential changes to vehicle dynamics. Heck the few cars in the US have only been on the street for 2 1/2 months and the parts book is still not listing a TON of parts and some that are listed like rear wheels are still not available to order.

We didn't buy a model that they knock off 12000 a month and we should all expect it's going to take some time for the aftermarket as well as the OEM suppliers to get up to speed on a completely new and unique very limited production car with a very limited sales potential for parts.

Aftermarket parts as well as factory parts are going to be slow coming, limited supply and expensive. I knew this going in and can live with it.

See post # 8 and check with the Parts dept. I couldn't post the whole thing because it was too large. Tell them to pull up document# 2218110 or ask them for part#92203853 The shock absorber superlift package.

Why would you want to MIX aftermarket shocks with oem shocks?:icon_scratch:

We drove our G8 fully loaded to Florida. 2 Adults, 2 older kids and more luggage than the queen Mother needs! 75 mph the entire way (Except Atlanta and the speed trap in Fl).

We also used the G8 to tow my Harley bagger to Sturgis. 1500 lbs of trailer and bike with the car loaded to the gills with a 10 day supply of every item anyone could possibly need (We don't travel light!) 70 mph the entire way (except Chicago).

Both trips were about 2500 miles each round trip and we never had a single issue. I am sure that we probably had the car loaded above GVW both times.

Anyway I question how anyone could have an issue with a heavily loaded G8.
