ditto, Had 4 adults in the car and I really couldn't tell, did not go WOT, there was this mud stain on the carpet in the back tho. :chair:Drove it with 3 full-size adults and a baby. (4 adults, 1 baby).
Didn't really run it hard because the passengers were my inlaws haha. However, acceleration and performance didn't seem as affected as they do in regular sedans. MPG was identical to no passengers, which was nice. Scraping was a concern but didn't happen, even over bumpy roads.
I've had 3 Cadillacs that had auto-air shocks in the rear, I really liked it as you never gave it a second thought. My V didn't have them but it wasn't too bad without them since the suspension was kinda stiff. My Q45 does not have them and it does sag in the rear with 2 people in the back(seat, not trunk), the headlights have an adjustment inside the car to bring them back down. Its suspension is pretty soft. I would think the SS would be more like my V was.It sounds like headlight aim will be an issue.
It was on my 96 Impala SS until I put air bags inside the rear springs.
That is not possible on the SS.
Check the sticker for the GVWR total and front/rear axle ratings remembering the vehicle weighs 4000 pounds @ 52% front 48% rear. 4-5 people and a trunk full of stuff are pushing the maximum vehicle load rating (1181 pounds) and if you calculate the rear axle loading bias (everything behind the center line of the wheelbase to the axle centerline plus the axle centerline to rear end of vehicle ie: the trunk) that load goes to the rear suspension putting the rear suspension probably at its maximum load limit (~850 pounds) or maybe over it if you are very heavy in the trunk so of course it's butt is going to sag and it's nose is going to lift!If anyone decides the load the car with 4-5 people and baggage for a trip
See post # 8 and check with the Parts dept. I couldn't post the whole thing because it was too large. Tell them to pull up document# 2218110 or ask them for part#92203853 The shock absorber superlift package.I have searched the net and cannot find air shocks for the SS.
We drove our G8 fully loaded to Florida. 2 Adults, 2 older kids and more luggage than the queen Mother needs! 75 mph the entire way (Except Atlanta and the speed trap in Fl).If anyone decides the load the car with 4-5 people and baggage for a trip, and drives it at night please post the results.
The G8 had a problem with this if you believe the Grrr8 forum.
