I've read that article several times, and what I take from it is there won't be for now, but the future may change and we'll have to wait and see.

Well they did say no more 427s in the corvette to think I waited from 1970 till 2006 to see one again. I have bought 2 an 09 z06 that I traded for a 2012 z06 guess this one will be in garage long time ,don't think I can wait that long again I'm 70 and that would make me well over a 100.

Them releasing this is already a good sign of their intentions, even if it was to test the waters and gauge the sort of response it gets from the crowd.
So far the overall response seems positive enough to make a push, they might just be waiting for the right moment to announce it all and to not make any promises now.

Chevy always put's on a harmless front. I give it 2 years till somebody spills the beans on the ZR1 project. bet.
Beans are already spilling:

Since the launch of the Cadillac ATS, we’ve waited with baited breath for an ATS-V. Now, we can share some details, and they’re better than you could hope. Yes, Virginia, there will be an ATS-V, and it will be powered by Cadillac’s twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 making 425 hp.
Better yet, it’s slated to get a seven-speed manual gearbox option. Even better than that is Cadillac's plan for an ATS-V+, which will get an even more powerful V-8, and could arrive as soon as 2017. Could
the V-8 be the new supercharged, "625+ hp" LT4 from the 2015 Corvette Z06? We sure hope so.

What's not getting the LT4 is the new Cadillac CTS-V. Instead, it gets a new twin-turbo version of the Corvette’s LT1 V-8, an engine that's also slated for the next Corvette ZR1. Additional plans call for seven-speed manual, an eight-speed auto, and a dual-clutch transmission, though that quick-shifting gearbox probably won’t arrive until early 2015.

In all, the ATS family appears to be filling out quite nicely. The 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe, made its debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show, with the two-door sporting sleek lines and Caddy's new badge that ditches the wreath. Like the sedan, the ATS coupe is offered with the turbo-four and V-6 and rear or all-wheel drive. That said, expect the V treatment to carryover to the two-door ATS as well.
