While i've only been a member here for a week or so, i did visit this Forum frequently previously to see what's going on. Since joining i have read lots of posts about waiting for the train or truck to get to the east coast, northeast, etc. by those who special ordered their SS.

It occured to me that it would be lots quicker and a person would have more control over when they get their car, if they ordered their SS through a Los Angeles dealership and picked it up and drive it home themselves. Seems that could save weeks and lots of frustration.

Has anyone done this? If so how'd it go? Would you do it agin if given the chance?

Cheers!

Order it?...Just come out and get one! We've got 7 of them...4 Black ones, all with roofs, one with a spare, 2 Silver with roofs, one white one with a roof. Most dealers that I have seen has 3 or 4. Most are Black, Mystic Green is the rarest.

yes, when i get mine i will look to see what's available on local lots first. Unless my timing is such that i have no choice but to order one - i'd prefer not to. Frankly, the stress of waiting, watching, and worrying is more than i'd rather go through. I'd rather bring my checkbook and drive home the same day.

Check City Chevrolet, last time I looked they had one of each color. If not, then they can pull one from another Hendrick dealership.
Yep - i've noticed City doesn't put thier cars up on Cars.com. Guess they don't have to.

Yes, i actually sat in one inside at Parks Chevrolet in Charlotte a week ago. They had it in the showroom. I spent about 45 minutes going through it, started it up, checked everything inside and out. Loved it as much as i hoped i would and was most of the reason i joined the forum - it convinced me THIS is my next car.

Unfortunately, i can't yet. Late summer to fall is more likely. I get a discount as a GM Partner employee anyway and come August, September the deals get better.

Cheers.

Sounds like me...those months are getting closer! I almost went for it a month ago, but then I did my taxes...there goes 1/2 of my down payment. Maybe in 5 - 6 months. It's especially tough seeing them every day.

Mad Max - Hendrickcars.com would be most likely to have their inventory

As for waiting, other than financing deals, I would not expect there to be any additional money off outside of the current employee, vendor, partner programs.
Seeing that every local dealership has moved their first allotment, and some have sold all of their second and are buying from other dealerships, I doubt there will be any units with any age that will need additional discounts to move.
I have been wrong before...

My dealership in Iowa has two Phantoms and a Red Hot on the lot, but the way they hooked me was by telling me that they had what I wanted on the way, no test drives or tire kicks, no hammer down foot in the firewall new engine test drives.

Picking up today. If it's an old build date that's okay, I've got an old build date too.
