Does anybody have any history with the Bridgestone Potenzas that come stock on these sedans? I looked at the treadwear rating and almost :stac:. It's 140 which is less that the SS Camaro and Corvette's 220. Are we gonna see smoked tires in 10K miles, or does bridgestone rate their tires differently. I've heard you can't really compare treadwear ratings across different brands so that's why I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these tires.

No experience here. I typically buy Michelin tires.

When I tried researching this I came up with a whole bunch of Bridgestone Potenza tire models with 140 ratings.
Do we know exactly which one it is?

Im not sure if they are the EXACT same tires but the G8's came with Bridgestones. I havent heard a lot of good about them. A couple of guys had the sidewall separate from the treads. I have a set in my garage that are weather cracked all to **** and only have like 15K miles on them.

I too had issues with the Potenzas that came on our G8. After continuously losing air pressure in couple of tires, I took it to a local tire chain(purchased the road hazard warranty through them). After a lot of craziness that I'll spare you all, the cause was the interior sidewalls had cracks and splits around the entire perimeter of the tires.

Did you store them for winter? If so, did you seal them in a plastic bag?

so I guess the verdict is in that Bridgestones aren't the best. Lots of dry rotting and sidewall issues it sounds. I already see 3 tire choices from Tire Rack that I would pick to replace the Bridgestones for the 2nd set. Continental extreme contact DW, Michelin Pilot Sport 2s and Michelin Pilot Sport super sport.

Ya my buddy with his 2010 SS Cobalt (turbo) runs those on his DD and loves them. Very good all season DD tire! I tend to be a bit more aggressive and will sacrifice some longevity for performance.

Rear pair only lasted 30k (km 's) front pair 65k, 245-45 18, larger dia are even worse for poor tread wear, this is the price we pay for high performance grip
this is about normal according to bob jane tyres who do commodores all day every day.
I now have continental

Cant go wrong with the Michelin. I have the Pilot SS AS2's on my car and absolutely LOVE them. They are an all season tire(I havent driven them in winter yet) but they grip like a summer.
